The Green Machine looked like they were heading for a lopsided victory as Andrew Jacobson scored two goals to put his Green team ahead 3-0 after two periods. In the third period David Versehuuren scored the Green team's fourth goal. But, the Red Squad came storming back and scored 3 goals in this last period to make for a close finish. WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON LADIES Team Standings: Nabob 44, Atom A's tie and win On Friday, Nov. 4, the Malmont Farms Atom No. 1 team con- tinued their league schedule with a game against Lindsay. This was a very closely matched game with both teams giving an outstanding effort. Lindsay jumped ahead in the 1st period but Port quickly got on the scoreboard early in the second period as Kirk Swain picked up a pass from Sandy Mark and Tweens On Sunday Allen Aluminum Tween visited their old rivalry, Pickering. They soon showed why the coaches and managers are very proud of them as they seem- ed to control the entire game. Having ousted Pickering last spring in the playoffs, and again the the Provincial Champion- ships, they knew their job was not going to be an easy one. From the opening whistle, they skated hard and checked Picker- ing off the ring numerous times, making it difficult for Pickering to get any real good scoring chances. However 'a couple of penalties and a few lucky shots by the op- ponents left the girls on the short end of an 8-5 score. Pickering jumped into an ear- ly 2-0 lead, but then Jennifer Morden passed to Shannon Fox who found the net and then Lynd- say Dutkewich to Amy Parlia- ment made it a tie game. Two more by Shannon from Michelle Fitzpatrick and Sara Wanamaker allowed the period to end 4-2 in favour of Port. In the second period, Pickering took the lead 5-4 within 4 minutes, despite the hard checking by Kel- ly Menzies, Kim Poppleton and Tanya Towns. This was the time when our penalties really cost us. Lyndsay received a perfect pass from Valerie Payne and pumped one past Pickerings goalie for our last marker. As mentioned last week, there are lots of good signs and this game really brought them to light. The team learned that one of their most loyal fans had been hospitalized a couple of days earlier. Then with only 37 seconds left defenceman Jay King tied the score 4-4 on a blistering shot from the point this time doubling up on assists were Billy Zaparanuick and Jeremey Geer. On Sunday the Green Machine took to the ice in Port Hope for a real action packed game that was full of outstanding passing plays and fast skating. During todays game the defensive lines of Billy Zaparanuik, Matt Morris, Ian McCready and Jay King played fabulously, taking advantage of their strong shots from the point they tested the Port Hope goaltender as well as frustrated their offence by not letting them past Port's blue line.
