7 Tc da ee ae a h i] welcome to new volunteers by Wendy Clark A warm welcome to all those new volunteers who took part in our Volunteer - Get Aquainted Night. Welcome Aboard!! Several residents headed out on Monday, Oct. 17th for a Leaf Col- our Tour. We picked up some of our friends in Uxbridge and then took in some colourful sites of the trees throughout the area. Tuesday the residents had a choice of a craft session or a sing- song. In the evening a church ser- vice was provided by the Presbyterian Church. The following day was a Residents Council Meeting. Many important suggestions were on. the agenda. A night time Bingo was a big success. Thursday was another craft day with the focus on mainly sew- ing crafts. At 7:00 p.m. we were invited to the monthly birthday party which was hosted by the Legion ladies. A special thank you to this fine group for a wonderful evening. We ended the first week with a busy baking session and the treat wagon was busy making its rounds. First thing Monday morning (Oct. 24) all the residents were happy to see Kim (Activity Direc- tor) back with us. Kim was away in Stratford for a few days at an Activity Directors Convention. Activity professionals for nursing homes and retirement homes from all over Ontario got together to exchange ideas and attend seminars. Kim is proud to say that she came back with a lot of new ideas. = | Also on this Monday we had a games day. Many games were featured to satisfy everyone's li ing. Many residents enjoyed the Wheel of Fortune game. Tuesday (25th) a large group of residents went on a" Pumpkin Hunt. Winners with the most pumpkins were J. Tuck and L. Blaikie. Afterwards we all joined in on a sing-song. After supper the Prince Albert United Church pro- vided a service. Wednesday we had word games ~ with a lot of them pertaining to Halloween. During the afternoon on the 27th, we had another craft session. After supper was our an-. nual Halloween party. The theme this year was "Favourite Foods." The most original costume was won by B. Barry & D. Archer, Funniest - V. Crosier & L. Blaikie and the best attempt - B. Moroz. Plenty of super entertainment was provided by Archie Walker, the High School Chamber Choir & "The Cloggers." A special thank you to these groups for making it a great party. Friday, October 28 was a very busy day. We had one group play- ing Bingo while another group carved pumpkins and also a few ladies learned how to paint silk scarfs. : Residents celebrating upcom- ing birthdays are Mrs. Louella Shortt (5), Mr. Norisse Howey (7), Mr. Cecil Hubbard (8), and Mr. Roy Connell (10).
