After a lengthy stay in the Com- munity Nursing Home, Edmund (Ed) Harris passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital on Saturday, August 27, 1988, in his 83rd year. Born in Cadmus on October 12, 1905, he was the son of the late Frank and Victoria Harris by Connie Haigh The theme of the October meeting of Scugog Island Women's Institute was Citizen- ship and World Affairs, under the convenorship of Helen Hortop. In 1973 they sold their farm, moving to Port Perry for a few months, then to their home in Blackstock. Unfortunately, he was unable to enjoy many years there due to ill health. Ed enjoyed farming, then work- ed at Charlton Transport and later at the T. Eaton Co. where he retired from. In his earlier years, he showed horses at local fairs and called for square dances at the many com- munity showers and dances. He enjoyed his family, grand- children and visiting with friends and neighbours. Ed is survived by his family, Jean Mahaffy, Jim Harris, Lorna Edgerton, Shirley Magill, Reta Birkett and Verna Chapman. Predeceased by his wife Susie, and infant daughter Wilma. Loving grandfather to Grant, Neil, Anne, Lisa, Brian, Judy, Joanne, Linda and Lori and great grandfather to Carla, Abby, Alex, Jessica and Blake. Also survived by brother Howard and predeceased by brother Norman. The funeral service was held at the Wagg-McDermott Panabaker Funeral Home in Port Perry on Monday, August 29, 1988 at 2:30 p.m. Interment at Devitt's Cemetery, Cartwright Township. Rev.
