It seems no one of a musical mind can resist the. Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra. And all fifty-five pieces will be appearing in con- cert at the Port Perry United Church on Saturday at 8, November 19th -- quite possibly the largest orchestra ever to per- form in town. Promoted by Town Hall 1873 as an additional attraction to their regular series and co-produced as a fundraiser by the Port Perry United Church Choir, this concert promises to be the highlight of a very busy local musical season. Under the skilled musical direc- tion of Raffi Armenian, and with financial assistance by J.M. Schneider Inc., and other arts groups, the K-W Symphony is cur- rently presenting 'Ontario '88' -- a concert tour of several centres. Russian-born Eduard Minevich, concertmaster, will be featured as guest violinist in his Bizet ar- rangement entitled "Carmen Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra'. The challenging and varied pro- gram will also include W.A. Mozart's "Serenade, K. 525 in G Major (much better known as "Eine Kleine Hacht-musik"), and Beethoven's splendid "Symphony No. 4, Opus 60 in B Flat Major" (Parts I - IV), composed in autumn, 1806 and first performed in 1897 at the home of Prince Lobkowitz, one of his patrons. "No. 4"' is considered to be the most joyful of all Beethoven's Symphonies. Formed in 1945, the K-W Sym- phony is a cultural centrepiece of its area as well as becoming renowned in other centres. It recently completed performances in Toronto with the Toronto Operetta Theatre's "Gypsy Princess" prior to the Concert Tour.
