All Stars take second place The Greenbank Allstar (Lee Bus Lines) partook in their league championships this past weekend and came out second behind a powerful Unionville squad who placed first in the York-Durham league. The Allstars played their first game against Newmarket which ended in an exciting 4-1 victory in Greenbank's favour. With a win over Newmarket, Greenbank now had to play the tough Unionville squad and this game saw the ball bounce in the Unionville's favour to advance them to the championship. Greenbank now had to win their next game to continue further play in the tournament. The next game was again against Newmarket. This was a friendly battle which ended in Green- bank's favour 8-1. This win over Newmarket advanced Greenbank to the championship game versus their rivals Unionville. Unionville proved to be too strong for the greenbank squad and won the gold medal in 5 innings due to the mercy rule. The boys of Greenbank played an extremely well tournament showing a lot of class and sport- smanship. One particular mo- ment of the tournament seemed to be kind of special when after an injury to Greenbank's pitcher which made him struggle to pitch at his best and was being hit all over the park. However, when a team comes together and backs up their fellow mate like Green- Fall Classic Saturday, September 17 Master C1 - 18k (over 40, one man canoe). 1st, Garnet Weaver, 1:08:03; 2nd, Rene Boogemans, 1:10:02; 3rd, Iain Craig, 1:11:29. Superb catches in the field were done by every member of the team in- cluding Tim Timms who caught all four games on the weekend and did a super job. 'A team should have a heart and soul as one and think line one another. When you play, you play -to win, win together and lose together as a team. The team always comes first before your own self accomplishments. That is exactly what Greenbank's pit- cher felt when he could no longer play in the game. He had a team behind him which would never give up. They played super and kept the whole team in the game and on a winning attitude. This team consists of the following players by position: catcher, Tim Timms; 1st base, Norm Crawford; 2nd base, John Ennis; short stop, Paul Kett and John Chronis; 3rd base, Ken Winslow; left field, Jeff Brett and Kevin Puckrin; centre field, Scott Porter; right field, Dave Hop- mans and pitchers Mike Feasby and Brett Puckrin. The baseball season is over for another year and the Greenbank boys would like to thank their coaches, Bud Ennis, Terry Crawford and Todd Wilbur; Manager Helen Winslow and 2 very special people who never missed 1 game all year, the team's sponsors Lee Bus Lines, Mr. Murray Lee and Mrs. Shirley Lee. The team thanks you for be- ing so dedicated and involved in our success and our failures. 56:36; 3rd, John Seubert, 57:09.
