A very lovely event with a large attendance, hosted by the family, at the home of Don & Gloria Forder, on Maple Street, Port Perry. Relatives and friends were present from many points throughout Ontario. Our "warmest congratulations' to Frank and Grace...a most deser- ving couple! The Churches - An average attendance at Nestleton United Church on Sun- day, Aug. 28th at 11:15 a.m. Greeting at the door were David and Joanna Malcolm and family, with Kingsley as Usher. An in- teresting instrumental number..* Climb Every Moun- tain' by David and Ken Weir was enjoyed by all present. David played his trumpet and Ken the Electronic keyboard. Rev. Dale Davis conducted the service and his challenging sermon was on "Our Sense of Morality'. Closing hymn was '"Thee Will I Love"..a favourite of many folk present. The Nestleton Sunday School will resume on Sunday, Sept. 4th..the first Sunday in the month! At Caesarea Community Church on Sunday, Aug. 28, 11 a.m. saw a reasonable company of people out for Worship. Rev. Charles Clarke of Prince Albert, conducted the service and the speaker was Rev. Dr. W.H. Crawford. His message was meaningful entitled, "God is our Strength" based on Isaiah 51: 4-15. The Sacrament of Holy Com- munion was conducted by Rev. C. Clarke..an impressive part of the service. The Sacrament of Bap- tism is scheduled for Sept. 11th at 11 a.m. Each event within the church is important and awe inspiring! May the congregation be a lighthouse shining in a dark world, carrying the Gospel! At the Nestleton Presbyterian Church on a dull Sunday morning, the service was held at 10 a.m. by Mr. David Faulkner of Ballyduff Church. Joyce Taylor was the able organist. Scripture reading..Psalm 130, and Mark II. The sermon was taken from parts of Mark II telling of the triumphal ride of Jesus into Jerusalem, on a colt hich had never been ridden. Sunday School classes were conducted, and attendance was up. All children are most welcome! A joint meeting of Session and Board of Managers was announc- ed for Sept. 12th, with Rev. S. FORD Mclntryre in charge. Nestleton Anniversary will be held on Sept. 11th at 11 a.m., and on Sept. 22, services will be withdrawn for Ballyduff Anniversary Service. Caesarea Euchre At the weekly game of cards the high score was taken by Fred Lawrence with 84. Second was Faith Lawrence with 78. Paul Krawets with 52. The Ladies serv- ed a nice lunch provided by Shirley Gettins. The Ladies Auxiliary have in- stalled an air purifier..to clear away the cigarette fumes..and it is working beautifully! Great work, girls! Congratulations! Blackstock (Cartwright) Fair was a very interesting, as well as successful fair, this past Satur- day. Many residents from this area were there in full force to give support to their 123rd Fall Fair, and many took part. Ralph Sadler of Nestleton, had two firsts, in the Hackney Harness class, and grandaughter, Leslie MacKenzie, won the 16 years and under class with her pony. Janice MacKenzie won third prize in the Ladies driving class! Richard MacKenzie was emcee at the fair..with many an interesting comment! Janice MacKenzie rode her saddle bred horse at Barrie..winning first prize in the Equation class. Daughter Leslie MacKenzie has had her report back re- her music examination...and we are pleased to report she received honours in both piano and vocal. Her teacher is Rebecca Helsdon of Blackstock. Port Perry Fair is all ready to go..for three exciting days, with many activities for all ages! It will be held over the Labour Day weekend (Sat., Sun. and Mon...Sept. 3rd, 4th and 5th). Bridal Shower Of Interest Yours truly attended the love- ly bridal shower hosted by Madeline Cawker and daughter, Wendy Gerrow of Scugog Is. on Sunday afternoon. The shower was in honour of bride-to-be Lori Young, Orono, and husband-to-be Ernie Cawker of Scugog. Relatives and friends gathered..and after Lori had opened the great variety of gifts, and a thank you to all..a tasty lunch and sociability was en- joyed. Best wishes to this young couple!
