We sure envied those people that worked in air conditioned environments. During the first week of July we had a Canada Day BBQ on Mon- day, July 4. While sitting on the patio we enjoyed BBQ hot dogs, cool refreshments & juicy watermelon. Several games were played such as "kick the shoe" and "shake the penny.' On Thursday, July 7 we loaded into several cars and headed off to Windfield Farms in Oshawa for an enjoyable afternoon of viewing their beautiful horses. Also offered over this week was discussion & quiz, church - by the Blackstock United Church, coffee hour, manicures, euchre, bingo, swimming, movie and ice cream Vacution Bible school The Hope Christian Reformed Church in Prince Albert once again offers Vacation Bible School. Program co-ordinator Ruth VanEyk will be in charge for this years program. Last years vaca- tion Bible School was very suc- cessful with over 80 children in- volved. Children ranging in age from 3 - 11 will be doing crafts and art and Bible stories. The church accepts children from all faiths and churches. But also children who have no church affiliation. This year's program runs from August 8 - 12. If interested please phone 1985-2538 or 985-2030. This young lady had the best seat in the house for the Polka Dot Door, Live! show, held Friday after- noon at the Festival Tent. n-- pr | -- parlour. On Monday, July 11 we had a bowling match with Bill Moroz achieving 100 pts. The following day was our Watermelon Bash. Everyone en- joyed entertainment provided by Archie Walker and also devoured the delicious juicy sweet watermelon. In the evening the Emmanual Pentecostal Church provided a service. Wednesday the 13th was an ex- citing busy day as a few residents were able to go for a picnic & boat cruise down Sturgeon Lake. As we cruised along Mrs. Maude Ed- monds was chosen to be "honourary captain for the day" and had a chance to drive the boat. Due to a limited number of seats available for the trip we had a discussion group on the patio for those that did not go. Keeping in with the theme throughout Port Perry we had our British Days on Thursday (14), & Friday (15). The first day a very enthusiastic group watched the movie 'The Royal Wedding.' In the evening a large group gathered for a pub night. Beer shandies were very popular tonite. Entertainment was provid- ed by '"'the cloggers'" and also Louise Hartney led a sing-song. For Friday we started off the - morning with an obstacle course. There was a good participation for this fitness program. We then stopped for a lunch consisting of Bangers & Mash. During the afternoon we had an English Tea Party. A female barber shop quartet by the name of 4-tunettes came in to provide us with some delightful entertainment. To end the week we had a Fami- ly Hour on Saturday with homemade ice cream sundaes be- ing very popular. Our sincerest sympathy is ex- tended to the family and friends of Mrs. Joanne Lunney who pass- ed away quietly July 3, 1988. Joanne had been bedridden for a number of years and was visited often by her daughter Dianne. Special birthday wishes go to Miss Phylis Lambert (July 19), Mr. Bill Gibson (24), Mr. Ralph Sommerville (26), Mrs. Elizabeth Campbell (26) and Mr. George Freeman (28). Staff members celebrating bir- thdays are Mary Ann Elliott and Sally Slotwinski. Best wishes on your birthdays.
