The Port Perry XL Eagles stag- ed an exciting comeback to edge Cardiff 6-5 in extra innings to cap- ture the Maynooth Intermediate Tournament in four straight games on the holiday weekend. Robert Evans' bases loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth in- ning brought in Jay Williams with the winning run to cap the rally as Port had been down 5-3 going in- to their last at bat. Earlier in the contest, Rick Blohm gave the XL Eagles the lead with a homerun to left field to stake Port to a 1-0 lead after three innings. Cardiff rallied with 2 runs in the top of the fourth, while Bill Owen homered in the 'bottom half of the inning to square the game at 2-2. Bill Owen then walked on a 3-2 count tying the game. Doug Scott hit back to the pitcher to force Graham at the _ plate and then Robert Evans pro- vided the margin of victory with his walk to bring in Williams. For Lil Gators, Brad Plain was sharp at third base, making several key plays, while Jason Dawson connected for 2 triples and a double and Lindsay Parry hit a home run. Jason Edinger made a double play for Seagrave Park, by cat- ching a line drive and throwing the runner out at first base. In Port Perry, Standard Elec- tric came from behind to tie Brian's Towing at 16. Darryl Bourgeois caught a line drive at second base for Brian's Towing while Colin Meijerink hit a triple driving in a couple of runs. For Standard Electric, Pete King hit a grand slam home run and played well behind the plate for two innings. Ian McClelland batted in 3 run- ners including the winner for Ir- win Smith to edge D.J.
