Although the our team didn't win, the Port Perry ladies, with captain Debbie Storms (left) did manage to win Consolation B. Pee Wee H.L. baseball In Seagrave on June 20, Seagrave Park Pee Wee Team played a strong defensive game to beat Irwin Smith by the score of 9 to 3. Mark Jansen made a nice pick- up at 3rd to throw out a runner at first for Seagrave, while Jason Vernon picked up a line drive in centre field and threw a runner out at home. Bil- ly Sandiford played a strong game defensively at 2nd and short stop by throwing out three run- ners at first base. Mike Sluggett hit a home run for Standard Electric while Pete King and Brad Lemieux each con- nected for two doubles. On June 23, Standard Electric 'won it's first game of the season by beating Brian's Towing by the score of 16 to 15. Marcus Otis played a good game for Standard Electric by catching two flies and hitting a double. Pete King made a great running catch in left field while Kevin Pearce drove in the winn- ing run and was the winning pitcher. For Brian's Towing, Andrew Jones made some good catches in field, while Graham Holt went 3 for 4 at the plate. Results from the On Tuesday, June 14, at Nestleton the Port Perry Kinsmen were victorious over Maltheb's with a score of 24 to 8. Home runs were hit by Stephen Kyte, Jason Logan and Brad Vokins. Dustin Marnoch hit the only triple and Mike Carlson, Brad Morton, Jason Logan, Johnathan McCourt and Sharon Locke each hit a double. Erik Vetter hit two doubles. Jason Logan caught a fly ball for one out then threw the ball to third. base for a double play. An oustan- ding pop fly was caught by Stephen Kyte and Johnathan McCourt made a great catch at first for an out. The outstanding play of the game occurred when Erik Vetter caught the ball at second base and then threw it to Brad Vokin at third for an out. Pitching was pro- vided by Jason Logan, Erick Vet- ter & Brad Morton. ~, Cartwright loop Top notch fielding was done by David Kemp, Wendy Handyside and Bill Duncan. On June 21st at Blackstock Fairgrounds, Port Perry Kinsmen met Blackstock Lioness'. The game ended with a score of 20 to 10 for the Kinsmen. Singles were hit by Stephen Kyte, David Kemp, Johnathan McCourt and Jason Logan. Dustin Mar- noch, Brad Vokins, David Kemp and Erik Vetter all hit doubles. Triples were hit by both Brad Morton and Mike Carlson. Eric Vetter, Jason Logan, David Kemp and Dustin Marnock scored home runs. Outstanding catches were made by Eric Vetter, Jason Logan and Brad Morton. Ex- cellent teamwork was displayed by all of the Kinsmen and the solid fielding by Bill Duncan, Sharon Locke and Wendy Handyside helped make this an exciting 'game. The Tennis Racket Still time to enter Doubles The first 'tun' tennis tourna- ment of the year was held on Sun- day, May 22 and it was just that, fun and lots of sun! This Saturday, the Mixed Doubles Tournament is being played, a bit more on the serious side, but still a lot of fun for all participants. The entry fee is $12.00 per team plus 1 new can of tennis balls. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 2 mat- ches as there will be a consolation round. Organizer George Bright states the deadline for signing-up is Wednesday, June 29, 6:00 p.m. and is posted on the bulletin board at courtside. Kawartha League team members of the Nautilus Tennis Club of Peterborough played 'against Port Perry members on our courts last Thursday evening. The score was tied at 3-3. This Wednesday our Kawartha team travels to Fenelon Falls for more competitive playing. If you want to become a member of the Port Perry Tennis Club then do so now as a $5.00 late fee will be charged to those who fail to pay their dues by this Thursday, June 30. Application forms can be picked up at Sport- sland or call 985-8948 or 985-0568. On the lighter side of tennis, juvenile delinquents are pre- teenage tennis players who beat you 6-0, 6-0, without breaking a sweat.
