Cornsh School turned in a fine perfor- mance at the Regional finals June 8 at the Civic Fields in Oshawa. In total, the team captured 49 ribbons and one record setting medal at this meet. And there were several first place finishes, includ- ing the girls 13-year old relay team. Meanwhile at the Durham Central Meet June 1 for schools north of the Ridges, the Cornish team had an outstanding day with 43 firsts, 25 seconds and 17 thirds. Commenting on the team's showing at the all-Durham finals in Oshawa, coach Rob Smart was very proud of the showing. He noted that many of the competi- tors from the Oshawa-Whitby- Pickering schools are members of private track and field clubs, and because of this, the level of com- petition and standards are very high.
