Will pave half road Due to unexpected excavation difficulties on Carnegie Beach the entire stretch of road will not be paved this summer. Roads superintendent Ronn MacDonald approached council 'Monday morning to explain that cost over-runs while preparing the road surface drastically exceeded his estimates and that if he had to stick to his budget of $100,000 he 'could only pave half the road this year. ; Council approved $100,000 to be spent on the road last year after residents of the beach came to council in force to complain about the condition of the road. Councillor McLaughlin ques- "tioned whether they could pave the entire road this year, and defer half the cost until 1989, but adminis- trator Earl Cuddie said they could not defer any cost over to a new council. Most of council agreed that they had to stay within the budget, and that if they could only afford to pave half the road this year, then that's all they would pave. Pitch for garbage Scugog Township council wants Durham Re-cycling Inc. to re-consider its decision not to pro- vide that service for Prince Albert residents. "Prince Albert is an extension of Port Perry and the (re-cycling) service should be there," said Ward 1 councillor Yvonne Christie Monday afternoon. Council agreed and the Town- ship will make an official pitch to have Prince Albert included in the pick-up area for re-cycled house- old garbage. Residents of Port Perry are to start re-cycling this week, using the "blue boxes" that were distrib- uted last weekend. Glass bottles and jars, tin cans and newspapers are the kinds of household garbage that will be icked up at curb-side by Durham e-cycling trucks on regular gar- bage pick-up days in Port Perry. The reason Prince Albert was not included for re-cycling is be- cause that community does not re- ceive regular municipal garbage collection.
