Established in September 1977 | by ten industrious ladies as a non- | profit corporation, the school has | managed to keep its high stan- | dards of child care and parental | involvement going despite in- | creasing costs, regulations and size! Of course, a co-operative depends on its members and the community for lots of contribu- tions and enthusiasm, and that's something that has never been lacking here. The quality of ear- ly educational experiences for the children largely depends on quali- ty teachers willing to work with well-meaning parents, and again there is no shortage here either. Anne Lane has been supervising teacher for seven years, and Ellen Russell has been involved for nine! Such dedication is always evident in school. An aluminum sign, made to commemorate the school's tenth anniversary was placed on the outside of the Blackstock Recrea- tion Centre last March and a small celebration is planned for this year's Open House & Registration on May 12th so the school's past presidents can be honoured. Everyone is welcome to come and see the school for themselves. They are conducting workshops on Recording Your Family History; Preservation of Photographs; and Oral History Recording. The Books are being copied, laminated and microfilm- ed. The Curators frequently sub- mit articles to magazines and papers; work with Historical Societies; and are guest speakers at other organizations. Historical researchers often use these Books as a source of reference. Jessica and Candace enjoy playing with a couple of the dolls available to the kids. Aaron, Krista and Julia enjoy one of the many books available for the kids during story-time.
