Just before that, the Barons had a goal called back when the ref ruled a player was in the crease. The MoJacks took a short- lived lead in the third period when Cartwright Minor Softball St. Jules netted his second of the night off a scramble at 6:42, and Jeff McColl finally clicked on a power play at 9:01 when he blast- cd a low shot from the deep slot that beat Nightingale cleanly. John Harman and Kevin Long drew the assists. The MoJacks werc strong on the power play-all evening with all kinds of sustained pressure and puck control, but they were not able to get the puck past the goa- lie. Just a few seconds after McColl had give the team a 3-2 lead, the Barons tied the game at 3-3 with a hort-handed marker by Dave Hopkins on a break down the left side. That set the stage for the first ten-minute OT period and then the sudden death 20 minute period and the goal by Smethurst that finally settled the affair. He also had two assists in this one. The MoJacks fired 50 shots at Nightingale in the Baron cage, in- cluding eight in the overtime peri- ods.
