They defeated Beamsville Port Perry Midget Eagles rallied for four unanswered goals in the third period to edge Beamsville 5-4 and capture the O0.M.H.A. All-Ontario 'BB' Cham- * pionship four games to one. In a thrilling finish, the Eagles had the crowd in a frenzy cheer- ing the boys on to their exciting comeback. When John Lally tip- ped in a slap-shot from Kris Lavereau from the point with 26 seconds to play, the joint went wild. The game in the first and se- cond periods had been mostly a case of Beamsville outplaying Port badly at both ends of the rink, with their hustle and oppor- tunistic shooting in building a 4-1 lead. To this point only Clair Cor- nish from Todd Taylor had dinted the visitors' armour. Between the second and third periods the Eagle players regrouped and came out fired up and determined to change the game around. Lally started the ball rolling by parking himself in the slot and banging home a pass out from behind the net from Mark Barkey at the 1:57 mark of the period. Three and a half minutes later Warren Geer clos- ed the gap to 4-3 with a goal mouth tip in with assists going to Andrew Steele and Brad Menzies. At 7:45 the Eagles tied the game up on a scramble in front of the net with Lally sliding the puck into the net to set things up for his eventual winner seven minutes later. In Beamsville on Wednesday Port dropped a tight 6-3 loss in overtime for only their third loss in eighteen playoff games. Chris es 5-4 to win the series four games to one. McConnell was in net and played exceptionally well as Port's defense was trapped continually allowing numerous 2 on 1 and 3 on 2 breakins. Scoring for Port Perry were John Lally from Paul Wylie, Kevin Gibson, from Brad Menzies and Warren Geer and Clair Cor- nish unassisted. How sweet it is.
