Developer Hans Mochring and members of Township council have been negotiating the sale of of a small triangle of municipal land immediately south of the baseball diamond on Water Street. A large, open drainage ditch cuts through the parcel of land. Council informed Hans Moechring Monday afternoon that the Township wants to retain ownership of a 20 foot wide strip on the south side of the drainage ditch so works crews can take ma- chinery on that strip to clean out the open drainage ditch from time to time. The council also wants a small portion of the parcel front- ing on Water Street itself. "I really don't care who owns it so long as I can keep it attrac- tive and landscaped," he stated. However, the council's desire to retain ownership of the 20 foot wide strip of land beside the drain- age ditch could mean that the 100 unit seniors apartment building may have to be moved further to the east. Mr. Mochring has made on offer of $150,000 to the munici- pality for the triangle of land, though that offer has not yet been officially accepted by council. The Conway Place develop- ment calls for a 100 unit seniors apartment building, a further 90 condominium units in three build- ings and a retail plaza. Mr. Mochring said Monday he wants to start with the residen- tial component of the develop- ment first and then proceed with the commercial part. Plans call for underground . parking for both the apartment building and the condos. Mr. Moehring said the indoor mall will include about 50,000 square feet of retail commercial space, and a further 20,000 square feet of commercial space for such things as professional offices.
