In the Seniorsthe Cana- dians defeated the Bruins 8-7. Scoring for the winners were Brendon Agnew 3, R.J. Ford 3 and Mike Leach 2. Bruins' scorers were Paul Bycok 4 and Danny Bycok, Darryl Dutkewich and Mike Hepburn each with 1. Pleased that Hector Shortridge is progressing well following surgery last week in Port Perry Hospital. Mrs. Elva Van Camp is undergoing treatment in Sun- nybrook Hospital. Mrs. Dora Sug- gitt is making good progress following hip surgery in Oshawa Hospital. Most of the patients are recovering these days. The annual Awards Banquet and Dance for the Curling Club was held on Saturday evening at the Nestleton Hall. Following a warm welcome by President Doug Kadowaki, Grace was said by Brian DeJong and a delicious roast beef dinner was enjoyed. A vote of appreciation was voiced to Caterer Dorothy Lee and her helpers. In his opening remarks, Doug spoke of the dropping member- ship and pointed out that efforts™ at recruitment are necessary. Mary Demerchant presented the trophy and prizes to first place rink in the Ladies Division, Lor- na Edgerton, Helen Coates, Jean Goble and Lois Dallas. Second place was won by Helen Nesbitt, Leah Frew, Tracy Vernest and Sally Gibb. Lorna Edgerton presented the report of the nominating commit- tee's list of incoming executive as; Helen Coates, President, Tracy Vernest, 1st Vice, Glenna MacLeod, 2nd Vice, Shirley Dingman, Schedule Manager, Rie Hoogeveen, Treasurer. Jean Goble on behalf of the Mix- ed Curling League announced the winners of the trophy and first place prizes were Shirley Dingman, Rick Dingman, Rob Worden, Shirley Gibson, Mel Lamb, and Rob Thompson. Se- cond place was taken by Lawrence Van Camp, Liz Luke, Rob and Ann Fleming. Merlin Suggitt presented his trophy to the winners of men's league, Doug Kadowaki, Dave Vernest, Grant McLaughlin, Dan Mahar. In his remarks, Merlin, who is a charter member of the Club pointed out that the coming year Blackstock Curling Club will be celebrating its 40th year. Se- cond place was won by Craig Larmer, Rich Miller, Brent Mavin and Russell Weir. Much credit was given to the icemakers for the seasons ice. The Executive was announced as President - Doug Kadowaki, Vice President - Dale Van Camp, Sec-Treas. - Gerald and Joyce Kelly, Mixed League - Jean and Keith Goble, Jim and Alice Waldriff, Men's Reps - Cam Porter, Ron Vice, Grant McLaughlin. Several door prizes were drawn and won. The members of St. Johns Anglican Church are pleased that a new minister will be coming on May 1. Rev. Charles Bull has been at All Saint Anglican at Whitby. Charles received his B.A. degree at the University of P.E.I. and his Theology Degree from Trinity in Toronto. He is married to Michelle and has a daughter Joanna. Our project is centred around the theme "Encountering the Out- doors."" We will learn about out- door cooking, choosing a camp- site, photography as well as par- ticipating in lots of fun and ex- citing events. By March 1988 eyeglasses will be completely or partially covered.
