In game one, the black & gold, Port Perry Cutters were faced with the hometown favourites, the Ennismore Oldtimers. On Friday night the Pee Wee Legionaires played an exciting game against Glanbrook and defeated them 4-3. Jason Cochrane had an outstan- ding game with 3 of the 4 goals to his credit. After a lot of scrambl- ing in front of the Glanbrook net, Jason was able to push the puck under the goalie, assists went to Steve Laird and Gavin Cochrane. Steve Laird scored our next goal again by lots of hard digging by himself, with Jason Cochrane and Jeff Parry earning the assists. Rick Hutchinson was between the pipes for the Legionaires and made many outstanding saves to The Port Perry Menzies Ea- ~ gles have advanced to the all- Ontario Midget championship and will open a best of seven series this week at the Scugog Arena against Beamsville. The one bright spot of the game was when Bob Tarbotton was chosen M.V.P. of game two for the Cutters. Game three was now set up for the ""'B"' Championship with the Cutters playing one of the tourneys favourites, the Warsaw Oldtimers, last year's '"'A"' Champions. The game was only eight minutes old and the rookie line of Wayne Fox, Bob Tarbotton and Ron Jeffery went to work and the Cutters had a surprising 6-2 lead. P rin PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, March 29, 1988 -- 27 Although Port seemed to be on their way to an easy win, Bacar- di Doug McTween had other ideas. Rumour has it, Doug (the Cut- ters goalie) was reported said he stopped a lot of rubber, in this third and deciding game, and he had the bruises to show for it . but later it was reported that the bruises were self inflicted. The final score again was favourable for Port Perry in a questionable fun-filled "B" final 8 to 6. The most valuable player of this game was awarded to Wayne Fox.
