Oldtimers win The local oldtimers par- ticipated in a 40 plus Oldtimers Hockey Tournament on the weekend and came home winners. The first game saw them against the Oshawa Hot Dogs who they defeated by 6 to 4 with an empty net goal. The second game saw them defeat the Bowmanville Legion team 6 to 2 in an easier match than the first. This put them in the "A" final against a strong Bowmanville Audio Vision team. The score in this game was 1 to 0 up to the last 33 seconds of the game when Port was 2 men short, the Bowmanville team were able to tie the game to send it into overtime. With the teams down to two men aside Arnold May was able to find the net assisted by Brian Snyder to score the winner for Port. Other good scorers during the tourny were Vern Willis with 2, Brian Snyder 2, Ken Smart 3, Carl Fitzgerald 1, Dave Barky 1, Gary MacDonald 1, Bob Lee 1 and Ar- nold May 2. Assists went to the same people as well as Bob Slack, Ralph Fairman and Gene Moore. Don Card was outstanding in net allowing 7 goals in three games. Each team plays one game a week starting in May thru to September with a final tournament in September. Preferred age is 25 and over but teams are allowed to have two players between 20 & 25. Anyone interested in playing please contact Lynda Ashton 985-9434 hefore March 29. Juniors win 7-4 Port Perry Sportsland Juniors are nearing the end of their season. Sunday, March 20 saw the Port girls play Mississauga, here in Port. The first period was played, with lots of tight checking from both teams, ending 1-0 for the Port girls. The second period really open- ed up and the Port girls came out of this one, winning 7-4. Scoring for Port Perry were, Lisa Levy 4 goals, 1 assist, Kelly Calloway 2 goals, Rachel Traynor 1 goal, 1 assist, Cathy Coutoulakis 3 assists, Melissa Mo2hring 2 assists and 1 assist each to: Terri Bell, Heather Lawrence and Sylvia Durward. Our next and last game this season, will be at 11:15 in Mississauga next Saturday March 26 at the 4 Rings Arena. Fitness clinic A Fitness Ontario Leadership Program entitled Fitness Ontario Leadership Program - The Basics, sponsored by the Oshawa Community Services Department in cooperation with the Durham Region Fitness Council, is scheduled for April 15, 16, 17 and May 7 and 8. The program, developed by the Ministry of Tourism and Recrea- tion, is designed to help fitness leaders acquire the knowledge and skills required to enable them to lead safe and enjoyable fitness classes in the community.
