'Brad Howsam receives award ~, Dalry farmer Brad Howsam of the Els Rock Holstein Fatm at Greenbank has been named the first winner of the Lloyd Wilson Memorial Award. The plaque, along with $500 cash, was presented to Brad March 5. The award is In honour of the late Lloyd Wilson of Uxbridge and Is given annually to a person for out- standing contribution to agriculture in Durham Re- gion. Brad was nominated by the Ontario County Hol- stein Club of which he is a director. He's also active as a 4-H leader, was premier exhibitor at the 86 County Dairy Show, and in 1982 he won a showman- ship award at the Royal Winter Fair. Her daughter Mrs. Joyce Howsam is now im- proving in Manatee Hospital in Bradeanten, Florida. A new technique was performed by Dr. John Broda & Dr. Ballord Smith in a by-pass operation two weeks ago. We do send Joyce & Harold our best wishes for a speedy recovery and hope to see Joyce home again in good health. This is truly a "miracle." Their son Bradley won the top Young Farmers Award -- "The Lloyd Wilson Memorial Award." Congratulations Brad, your parents must be so proud & hap- py for you. We can also report Ted Pelletier is now out of hospital and at home with Mavis in Florida. The Armour McMillans, with the McKeans helped Muriel Gib- - son celebrate her birthday by having dinner at the 'Swiss Chalet" in Whitby, Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Snodden of Valentia visited with her mother Mrs. Olive McMillan on Saturday. Roy and Dot Hooker spent the weekend, snowmobiling in - Bancroft. Mr. Robert McMillan of Oshawa visited his brother Ar- mour & Rachel on Saturday. We are happy to see he is feeling - better. ~ Mr. and Mrs. Murray Lee en- Joyed a vacation from "Bus Driv- ing" by visiting Las Vegas during the School Break. Our congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Baird on the birth of their new grandson -- son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenton Baird. For the children of the Synday School who are interested in par- ticipating in the musical "Down By The Creek Bank' to be presented at our Sunday School Anniversary Service on June 5th. - Please plan to attend a brief meeting after Church Services this Sunday, March 27th in the Sunday School. The Greenbank Minor Ball final registration will take place on Friday, March 25 from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, March 26 from 10-12 a.m. at Greenbank Hall. This will be the last two days to register so make sure that you make it out.
