Pa an More than 60 balloons, each with a message inside were released Friday morning as Prince Albert School held a mini-Olympics. Prince Albert Public School's 1988 Winter Mini-Olympics was a resounding success. The day began with the Open- ing Ceremonies where the Cana- dian and Olympic flags were paraded to the flagpole. As the flags were raised, the entire school chorused O'Canada. Anna Forder McLaughlin, a former Olympic skater, was the guest speaker. Thank you to An- na for presenting the school with an Olympic flag and stickers for each child. Gavin Carnegie and Elizabeth Anderson carried the torch to light the flame. As the games were declared open, white balloons, symbolic of the Olympic doves of peace, were released by sixty-four children. Skating and snow games follow- ed for the morning and afternoon. Closing ceremonies included a march past by all teams carrying their national flags. Medal win- ners were Gold - U.S.A., Silver - Luxembourg and Bronze - Great Britain.
