Tykes enjoyed the tournament The advanced tykes attended a tournament on Saturday in Bowmanville. Port entered two teams -- C.A.W. 222 and Brock's Feed. - C.AW. 222 played thir first game against Ajax. Ajax started the scoring early in the first period, but Port was not to be out- done, as they put 2 goals in Ajax's net midway through the third period. Although Port did not win this game, the boys played a terrific game and were seen making some fancy hockey moves. Scoring for Port was Ian Parlia- ment 1 goal, Adam Hobbs 1 goal, Dillan Weber 1 assist. C.A.W. 222 second game saw them matched up against an Oshawa team. Port came out very strong and was hanging on to a 4-2 lead, midway through the second period. However, this win was to elude them as Oshawa came back in the third to take the win. Scoring for Port in this game was Adam Hobbs 2 goals, Dave Gainey 1 goal, 2 assists, Dillan Weber 1 goal, 1 assist, Ian Parlia- ment 1 goal, 1 assist, Ryan Moynes 1 assist, Alex Dell 1 assist and Justin McQuade 1 assist. Ben Stephenson, Tom Keeble and Wyatt Park were valuable assets on defense in this game. Jonathan Chambers and Keith Hencock shared goaltending duties. C.A.W. 222 needed this win to continue in this tournament. Good try boys! Brooks Feed played their first game against Skylight Donuts. This game seemed to be evenly matched as both teams were very strong and had plenty of action in both ends. However, Skylight won out as they played a victorious third peried. Scoring for Port was Brad Johnston 1 goal, Jonathan Froats 1 goal, Corey Branton 2 assists. Brook's second game had them matched up against Bowman- ville. Port played a solid game of hockey but couldn't get the edge they needed to win this game. However, they did manage to put a nice shot right past Bowman- ville's goaltender. Scoring for Port was Jonathan Froats assisted by Colin Mark. Shane Savage, Daniel Lee, Jeremy Heyworth, David Clouthier, Steve Martyn, Adam Brain, Chris Orr, Jamie Clark, Daniel Lyons, Brian Biffin and Scott Jeffrey all proved to be strong additions to their team. Brooks feed also need this win to continue in this tournament. Both teams played terrific hockey and showed some good skills on the ice. The parents and coaches were proud of their performance. Atoms down 4-2 The Malmont Farm's Atom A's travelled to Uxbridge for an exhi- bition game on February 21st. A fairly flat overall team effort com- bined with an improved Uxbridge team resulted in a 4-2 loss for Port Perry. After the home team took an early 2-0 lead, Brent Harper made a good individual effort to move in on the wing and get Port on the board. The lead was taken by Goreskis in the first period when Sean McQuiggin set up Dave Dickson. Blackstock tied it again in twenty-seven seconds as Ron Wagg and Dave Dalton set up Ron Redman. Neil Wood and Dave Dickson connected with Paul ALA ™ Twenty-four, totalled 45 points. Runner-up West to notch the final goal with 2:12 remaining. Goreskis win 3-2. The Utica - Emmerson game was cancelled due to Utica being in the finals of a Simcoe Ontario Tournament.
