One of the ladies was a guest, Mrs. Pat McGhee who lives near Marilyn who was welcomed and hopeful ly will attend frequently. The meeting was generally en- joyed with a different type of Devotional & plans for the future. One highlight to start immediate- ly in Feb, & through 31 days was an interesting Forfeit Calendar planned & designed by Bonnie & Jan Gerrow. It certainly represented a lot of work but pro- mises a lot of fun & tests our childish curiosity. They have a few copies left if you would care to participate, just give a call. Another bus trip is planned for June, future arrangements to: come later. The Craft Show date was found to be appropriate last year, so May 7th just before Mother's Day has been chosen. The "Head" UCW members plus a few interested friends have been very devoted to the quilting on their first quilt which will be used as a money making project. The second one will be for one of the members. Lo For the sake of people who have had many years of association with the Island, we like to report bits of information we learn about former or long time residents. Flora (Miller) Muffitt spent her youth on the Island & later mov- ed to Toronto but returned fre- quently & kept up her interest. Over 30 years she has cheerfully struggled through the suffering & treatments for cancer and never lost her faith. But finally she has reached a period that is getting beyond her control & requires constant care. For many years the name of Jeffrey has been associated with the past & present of Port Perry & Scugog Island. At this time we , are thinking of Gordon Jeffrey, a resident of Port Perry, but once of Scugog where he attended Sun- day school at the "Head" church. On Jan. 24th, he celebrates his 91st birthday for which we convey our congratulations and best wishes. He lives alone & looks after everything. He has a fine memory. I imagine he & John Sweetman could recall some wonderful Scugog memories together. : Right on time, at the end of Jan. Miss Bolton had the complete church reports of 1987 for the Scugog Pastoral Charge ready for distribution. It personally took me Bridge scores February 3 - Afternoon 5 Table Howell - Avg. 36 1st - Cathie Neely & Bev Stanley 42. 2nd - Helen Mathieson & Joyce Heard 40%. 3rd - Gwen Rennie & Marie Carnegie 39.
