Epsom and Area News: by Jean Jeffery * The Social Club had a Gourmet feast which was called pot luck on Saturday evening. After supper we spent the evening socializing and picking our leaders for this year. Mr. and Mrs. Robbie Sproules and daughter Britton were supper guests on Sat. with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Evans. p Mr. and Mrs. Thompson -of Woodstock were guests of Nancy and Gerald Hill and children for the weekend. They are Nancy's parents. Ruth Ashton's Sunday visitors were Alan and Joyce Ashton, Paul and Bradley of Oakwood, Beth and 'Kenneth Catherwood of Oshawa. Heather and Victoria Ashton who live just down the road. U.C.W. will be Feb. 9, 1:00 P.M. at Epsom Church. The Bethesda Reach Women's In- eld their regular meeting on Wed. evening at the home of Stella Roberts. 'Marilyn Stroud showed a film about chemicals used about the 'farm, home and garden. Then we talked about combining insect pests with non-chemical mix- tures. We were given many leaflets - donated by the Agriculture department. All enjoyed the sandwiches and tea provided by our hostesses. We are pleased to learn that Mrs. Meyers sister, Mrs. Norine Hirt is improving following a severe stroke. We are also pleased to learn that Lloyd Pogue is home from the hospital. "Recently there was a beautiful - shower for the spring bride-to-be, Janet de Boer at the home of Tony Keunen who intited former neighbours of Ben and Florie de Boer and family. Don and Stella Asling visited Tuesday with Hazel Asling of Ajax. On Sat. Joan Asling of Hanover, Julie Ashton and Clay Dempster called on Don and Stella. There was a Community supper at Deer Park Inn in Stouffville in honour of Jim Thomas for his com- mitment to community projects for thirty years. His sister Betty and her husband Norman Tapscott felt very honoured to attend this supper. Gerald Hill and Norman Tapscott attended the hockey match at Maple Leaf Gardens on Sat. evening. Our sympathy to Mrs. Clarence Veitch and family in the loss of her husband last week. Earl and Elizabeth Taylor and daughter Margaret Sevier visited Wi-abeth's niece at Holland Lan- Club had gourmet feast ding on Sunday. Twenty-one members of the fami- ly of Bill and Melba McKay met at the home of Marlene and Rod McKay recently to honour Mrs. McKay Sr. on her birthday. Happy birthday from all of us Melba. Mrs. Doris Armstrong accom- panied by her brother Jim Gourlie and his wife Faye attended the funeral in Belleville on Friday, of her cousin who had been killed ina ° car accident. They went with her brother Howard Gourlie and Helen of Oshawa. The sympathy of the community to the Gourlie family. On Saturday Les and Grace Beacock accompanied Bryan and Judy and son Philip to visit Miss Olive Beacock in Oshawa Hospital. _ Birthday greetings to Andrew Pereman who was 13 on Sunday, Jan. 31 and then on Feb. 5 Amanda Langford will be eight. She is expec- ting some friends over after school to help her celebrate. Then on the weekend Troy and Darin Hope will be lucky 13. .
