But in Bill Noble's case, Sharing the Flame meant temperatures sometimes as low as 50 or 60 Fahrenheit degrees below zero, with wind chill factor. No doubt about it, Mr. Noble's six _ days with the Olympic Torch was a bone-chiller, but it's an experience he says he wouldn't trade for anything. Mr. Noble, an employee of Petro- Relay, almost a week of snowmobiling through northern Ontario. See story for details. Canada in the construction, maintenance and engineering branch, dropped his name in the hat some months ago, for a chance at driving a snowmobile in the Olym- pic Torch parade. ' Only two teams of four snowmobilers were chosen, and the Nestleton resident's name was among the lucky eight. So from January 7 to January 12, Bill Noble braved the cold and Shared the Flame, all the way from Shanty Bay, near Barrie to Thunder Bay. On machines provided by Bom- bardier, specially fitted with wheels on the front skiis (for snow-less pat- a Bill Noble gets to "share 2 the flame" for six days ches), the team put in an exciting but. sometimes gruelling six days. Up at 6 every morning, the team would travel well into the darkness. Lunch was strictly a brown bag af- fair, and sometimes the team would miss dinnertime entirely and have to scrounge for what they could get from the hotels they were staying in, courtesy of the Olympic Torch Relay organization. "We missed supper a couple of times,' he said with a chuckle. "And we were lucky to get four hours sleep a night."
