Members of council listened to the presentation, but gave no indication of support or approval. Ward 3 coun- cillor Don Cochrane noted that if the plan was to get council's approval, there likely would be objections from property owners in the Chalk Lake area. He referred to a lengthy and costly Ontario Municipal Board hearing which was needed for final approval of the Oak Hills develop- ment on the north side of the Chalk Lake Road. In response, Mr. May said "we are prepared to go ahead (with the development) if council is convine- ed that any problems can be overcome.' Several members of council wanted to know exactly what plans would be in store for the frontage on Chalk Lake. Mr. May said he would very much prefer that the land fron- ting on Chalk Lake never be turned into a public park area, suggesting that if the development finally gets approval, the Township should ac- cept grants instead of parkland dedications.
