At Port Perry High School The best assembly yet! by Kim Griffin 'T'was the week before Christmas and all through the school not a stu- dent was skipping class, unless he be a fool. Yes Rebels, 'tis true. Once again it is the time for candy canes, mistletoe, and jolly old St. Nick and you won't want to miss school this week as the P.P.H.S. elves have planned a number of events for you to partake in and enjoy. So, if you haven't yet begun to experience the joy of the season, then let P.P .H.S. aid you in grabbing some holiday spirit. Preparations are almost complete for what is sure to be the best Christmas assembly that has ever blessed the stage of Gym AB. There seems to be a small disagreement however, between the Grade 13 students and the teaching staff, over whose Xmas skit will be the better in regards to originality and perfor- mance. You can decide for yourselves which group displays the most talent on Friday morning at the assembly. On Wednesday night at 7:30, the Music Department will be presen- ting its annual Christmas Concert in Gym AB. Jazzmerize, Senior Wind, and the bands and choirs of P.P.H.S. and R.H. Cornish will be among the provided entertainment. So come and delight in this merry event. If you happen to find yourself Gingerbread is judged Wednesday afternoon There'll be some sweet competi- tion going on at the Star office this Wednesday, December 16th, when the Gingerbread House Contest wraps up. Fourteen entries have been registered, and all are required to be at the Star office on the 16th at precisely 4 p.m. Entrants are encouraged to stay and watch the judging, while enjoy- ing coffee and homemade ginger- bread cookies. Judges are Mayor Jerry Taylor, Helen Newlove and Angie Kroonenberg. : Entries will be judged on overall impact, amount of work, creativity and neatness. But to be judged, all gingerbread masterpieces must be at the Star of- fice on Wednesday at 4 p.m. sharp. Contestants include Judy Gassien, Cathy Monsma, Wayne Wilson, Mari Farquharson and Courtney Chase, Susan Parkin, Doreen Ken- dall, Marilyn Allison, Chris Cliff, Evy Whitfield, Janet Bishop and Cindy Rudkin, Warren Moffat, Rachelle Tripp, Cindy Diamond and Carole Black Mitch Keirstrad PORT GIFTS Custom Pioture Framing 233 QUEEN STREET PORT PERRY VISA ; i ; ; i j : i i j y ; ; jo i I . ! i } i ; ! | i Derrick and Karen Versluys. Good-luck everyone! > Christmas Gift Suggestions wihdering listlessly about the halls with nothing to do on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:15, why not come to an At-Home meeting? There are still two remaining meetings before the holidays, so be sure to attend as all help is greatly appreciated. The meetings are held in Gym AB. Yesterday marked the beginning of P.P.H.S.'s traditional door decorating contest. Each homeroom will decorate their door in a Christmas theme of their choice and a panel of judges will be choosing a winner from both the Junior and Senior levels. The winning homerooms will be announced at the Christmas Assembly on Friday. Thus concludes our news report for this week. Remember that Fri- day is the last day of classes and school will close one hour earlier than usual. School re-commences on Monday, January the 4th. And so as we part for the holidays on a note of good cheer, Merry Christmas to all, and to all a festive New Year! P.S. Please have a safe holiday.
