Festival of Lights is underway 'he 1987 edition of Cullen Gardens annual Christmas Festival of Lights opened November 6th and runs through to Sunday, January 3, 1988. Canada's entrepreneurial gold medal for Business Excellence win- ner Len Cullen has put together an excitingly new and fresh Christmas show guaranteed to raise the 'spirit of enjoyment' of every visitor who walks through the sparkling gates. The excitement of Christmas will be experienced in the masses of colour and twinkling lights. Traditional and contemporary meanings of the season, Santa Claus, gifts, toys and taste delights. Happy moments while walking through Winters white wonderland of snow. Christmas Carols and squeals of happy delight as children come upon surprise after surprise of shrouded miniature scenes. Every colour of the rainbow can be seen across the valley, and through the Miniature Village. Sparkling newly fallen snow accen- tuates the feeling of serenity and peace of the season. A full size Nativity scene reminds us of the birth of Christ nearly 2000 years ago. Along the pathway on a bend in the river, a Huron Indian tribal pan- tomine enacts the Christmas story with three chiefs from afar, a fami- ly winter home and other tribal members around a campfire. The Village Main street has the annual Santa Claus parade with over twenty miniature floats representing fairy tales, cartoon characters, and Santa and his reindeer. The new Cottage Country, sponsored by General Motors has been snowed in, but yet here and there the local inhabitants celebrate the holiday season with cottages and country homes decorated. The magnificent Windermere House dominates the quiet lakefront scene and the trains bring holiday travellers back home. Shopping boutiques will offer gift opportunities in the beautiful ground floor Gift Shop, with it's own stone fireplace and candy store. The Flower Shop, Granny's and the Em- porium display a wide range of gift items that are quite different. Free entertainment in the Tea Room every evening at 6:00, 7:45 and 9:00 p.m. has a happy, upbeat kind of happy show for everyone. The well stocked counter of light snacks with lots of hot chocolate, coffee and munchies that can be en- -joyed before, during and after the show.
