Nov. 21 'I'his cold early morning game On November 20th & 21st the Goreski Insulation Bantams took to the ice in the Cobourg Annual Tourney. On the Friday night the boys came up against Peterborough in the first game. The boys came out pretty slow and found themselves down by two going into the third period. However, the boys pulled together torally to a 2-2 tie. This caused a lit- tle excitement as the boys pulled their goalie and scored with just ten seconds to 60 in the game. Port's goals were scored by Sean Bradbury assisted by Chris Legere and Ethan Lavereau, Jason Towns assisted by Chris Legere. Paul Kett played an outstanding game in goal with a lot of shots from the Peter- borough team. In the second game after a hard nose-to-nose talk by Coach Wilbur, Tykes On Saturday morning the 1st year tykes skated with their usual en- thusiasm and excitement. They practised their skating skills which included stopping, turning, even skating on one foot with another in the air. Much to the excitement of the parents, this proved to be very entertaining. You can see the improvements these boys make each week by showing their increased ability dur- ing a scrimmage played near the end of their regular ice time. Michael MacClennan and Bradley Beenan of the Kinsmen team are continuing to show improvement as well as Ken Ellis and Dillan Weber of Scugog Overhead Doors. For Dowsons Valu-Mart we have Shawn Martin & Kirk Clouthier, and Mike L.eFort and Ashleigh-Ann Murphy for Don Forder Insurance. The advanced tykes also show im- proved skills taught to them and a great willingness to learn. They worked on their stick handling and puck handling as well as their stop- ping -- backward skating was also on their agenda with a scrimmage to end the practise. The advanced tykes travelled to Blackstock Sunday alternoon for a game Both teams played very well as they took turns playing the various positions on the team, even sitting in the box. A fine perfor mance was evident on both teams For the C. AW 222 team. Tyler Wooten, Jamie Clarke and Ryan Moynes continue to improve as well as Chris Orr. Scott Willman and Shane Savage of Brooks Feeds The bovs will continue their hockey schedule next Saturday mor ning at 1030 for 1st year tykes and 11 30 for the advanced tykes started with Big 'V" Drug Store facing off against Consumers Gas Big V's' Todd Smart banged in a nice rebound and was assisted by Scott Wylie. Consumers Scott Airey made a nice end to end rush and tied the game at 1-1. This game was exciting end to end play and both teams fought hard to keep it close all game. Todd Smart for Big "V" scored his second goal of this game and was assisted by Kent Jamieson. Andrew Pereman scored for Con- sumers and again the game was tied. Big "V's" Ryan Pickard made his penalty shot count and clearly had the Consumers goalie beat to once more take the lead, but the hard working Consumers team wouldn't quit. Steven Stiles tied the game at 1:54 remaining to end this match in a 3-3 tie. the boys pulled together to play perhaps their best game of the year thus far. However the East Gwillim- bury goalie was up to the test, as he stoned the boys constantly in a fast, tight checking game. Port's spirit and hard work was just not enough as East Gwillimbury prevailed 1-0. Jamie Brown had a strong game in the nets. In the third game Port faced a strong team from Unionville and lost an ill-spirited game by a 2-1 score. Scoring for Port was the ever steady Steve Staniland on a hard drive from the blue line. Assists on the goal went to Sean Bradbury and The second game of the morning saw Emiels and Larocque Electric going to battle. Emiels took the lead on a nice end to end rush by Aron Royle who scored unassisted. The Larocque team quickly tied the game in the first period on a nice goal by Mark Cosway and Kevin Pearce picked up the assist. Emiels fought back to go ahead on the next two goals one by Aron Royle unassisted and the other by Mike Olaisen who scored while be- ing tripped by a Larocque defender. Kevin Ellis worked hard around Emiels net and scored on a nice re- bound with Mike Hepburn picking up the assist. Aron Royle put the game away for Emiels and received a well deserv- ed hat-trick. This final goal was assisted by Blair Beveridge. This game ended with Emiels 4 -- Larocque 2. Tough losses for Bantams Jason Towns. Pual Kett had a strong game in net, holding the guys in the game. During this weekend it seems that the boys have learned a little bit about themselves as a team and how to play together as a team. If they can carry this kind of an effort into each game the boys will have a suc- cessful year. The boys are in Bowmanville on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Darl- ington Arena, but return home Thursday when they play Cobourg at 8:00 p.m. Come on out and watch the boys play and support Minor Hockey.
