Three minutes later while playing a man short, Greg Warriner and John Hartford combined for a goal as Warriner pushed the puck into the crease and Hartford stood his ground to slap it behind Merchant netminder Derrick Tomlinson. The teams were at three-aside late in the second period when Dave Sims drifted behind the Merchant net and tucked the puck in from a sharp angle. The MoJacks ran into numerous penalties in the second including several to forward Rob Baker who was tossed from the game for fighting and also tagged with ag- gressor and instigator minors. Lit- tle Britain is firmly:in third place. The MoJacks home game this weekend will be Saturday evening (Nov. 28) with game time at 8:00 P.M. The Lindsay Muskies will be at the Scugog Arena for the first time this season. And it will be a special night for Port Perry Minor Hockey players, who will be admitted free to the game. And several young players from the Minor leagues will get a chance to test their shooting skills in one-on-one competition against MoJack goalies. It should be an in- teresting contest. There will also be some special draws that night. Don't forget game time is 8:00 P.M. with the Muskies at the Scugog Arena. Lead. They won two games and lost the championship game by one point to a hot team from Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto. They won the high two-game prize and came home with that award and the distinction of being the only all- woman team in the bonspiel. Pee Wee B's in the final game at fournament Last Wednesday evening the Stone Realty Pee Wee's travelled to Bewdley for a league game. Bewdley opened the scoring but Port fought back with 5 straight goals by Steve Desautels, Bill San- diford, Chad Garvock, Sean McEnaney and Kenny Winslow. Picking up assists were Brendon Agnew, Adam Johnston, Bill San- diford and newcomer, Jason Coutoulakis. Bewdley then finished the scoring with one more goal to make the final score 5-2 for our boys. On Saturday Port once again travelled to Bewdley to participate in a tournament. Stone's first game was against Newcastle and the boys controlled the game from the outset. The line of Brendon Agnew, Chad Garvock and Adam Johnston were especially dominating on counting for 7 of Port's 11 goals. Steve Stiles made some good stops to keep the team in the game during a stretch in the second period Our second game of the day was against a pesky Cobourg team. Port once again prevailed with a 4-2 vic: tory that allowed them to advance to the finals against Orono. The outcome of the final was disappointing as the boys suffered a 6-2 defeat. The game was much closer and more exciting than the score would indicate as it was tied at 2 with only 4:30 left, but then the wheels fell off for the boys. Matt Willetts was outstanding in net keeping the score as close as it was. Despite the disappointment of not winning the final the boys should be proud of their play as they have broken out of their slump. Chad Garvock led the scorers with 4 goals and 1 assist. Brendon Agnew popped 3 goals and added 2 assists while Sean McEnaney and Adam Johnston each had 2 goals and 3 assists. Ken Winslow had a big day with 2 goals and 2 assists while Jason Coutoulakis and Jody Logan both pitched in with 1 goal and 3 assists. Jeff Card added 1 goal and 2 assists while Steve Desautels finished off the goal scoring with 1 goal and 1 assist. Darrell Vanderslagt added 2 assists on the day and Lindsay Parry added one The Stone gang is out of town this week with a league game in Bowmanville on Monday night and an exhibition game in Oshawa on Thursday The Pee Wee Legionnaires started out their weekend with a game on Friday night against Pickering Village and had a resounding 9-0 victory. Jason Cochrane started the scor- ing with a pass from linemate Jeff Parry, and less than 2 minutes later scored again with the pass from winger Steve Laird. Port kept the pressure on when Duane Empr- ingham scored while being dumped on his backside. The initial shot came from a hard shot from the point from Jeff Andrews. In the second period Jeff Parry was able to poke one in the net after pointman Gavin Cochrane made a good shot at the net. Steve Laird scored again for Port with Jason Cochrane and Simon Traynor assisting. Jason McBride chalked up our next goal with the assist from Chris MacLeod. Jason Cochrane got his hat trick with assists going to Jeff Andrews and Steve Laird. Brad Moase scored Port's next goal on a backhand shot with the assists to Nathan Brown and Duane Empringham. Port's final shot was on a hard slapshot from the point by defenseman Jeff Andrews with the assist to Nathan Brown. On Saturday the team travelled to Wasaga Beach to compete in their Pee Wee tournament. The boys got to the fourth game but were knocked out of the cham- ~ pionship round by Bracebridge.- In the first game the boys had an easy win against a team from Durham. The final score on the game was 11-2. Chris MacLeod scored the most goals for Port Perry with 4 goals and 1 assist. Jason Cochrane scored Port's first goal and put in 2 others. Steve Laird scored two goals and lone goals went to Jason McBride and Jeff Parry. Assists were: Dave Pashley 4, Steve Laird 3, Jeff Parry 3, Jeff Andrews 2, Simon Traynor 1, Gavin Cochrane 1, Jason McBride 1, and Peter King 1. Rick Hutchin- son and Shawn Larocque shared the goaltending and both goalies came up with some great saves. In the second game the team played the hometown boys from Wasaga Beach. Our team came out a little sluggish in the first period and Wasaga took the lead with one goal, but in the second period Port scored 7 goals. Jason McBride scored our first goal when the goalie went down for the save after a blistering point shot by Gavin Cochrane and wasn't ready for that high flip shot by Jason. Nathan Brown assisted on the goal. Within 15 seconds Jeff Parry scored again for the Legionnaires with the assist to Steve Laird. Jason Cochrane chalked up his first goal of the game with the assists from Chris MacLeod and Jeff Parry. Steve Laird picked up a rebound from Gavin Cochrane to score. Jason Cochrane scored with the assist to Steve Laird, and Jason Cochrane picked up his hat trick after Steve Laird and Jeff Parry worked hard in the corners to get the pass to Jason. Jason Cochrane picked up a pass from Steve Laird and made a great end to end rush going past the defenseman and beating the goalie. In the final period Steve Laird scored for Port with the assists to Jason Cochrane and Jeff Parry. Port was penalized and Wasaga was given a penalty shot. Rick Hutchin- son was between the pipes and held up strong to beat the Wasaga player. Brad Moase finished Port's scoring and made the final score 9-3. Assisting on the goal were Simon Traynor and Duane Empringham. Port played the team from Stayner on Sunday and had another easy win of 7-0. In the first period Dave Pashley chalked up the Legionnaires first goal with the assists to Chris MacLeod, and Jason McBride. The Stayner goaltender was able to hold off any more goals in that perioq, but in the second period Jeff Parry scored in the first 45 seconds with a high corner shot. Steve Laird pick- ed up the assist. Jason Cochrane picked up a great goal from in the front of the net as linemates Steve Laird and Jeff Parry worked a great passing play. Brad Moase scored a high glove shot for Port with linemates Duane Empringham picking up the assist for all his fine efforts around the net. Jason Cochrane again scored for Port with the assists from Simon Traynor and Steve Laird. Jeff Parry picked up his second goal of the game on a great backhand shot. Steve Laird set the play up. Jason Cochrane scored our last goal to pick up his hat trick with a pass from Simon Traynor. The boys had played well throughout the tournament and had by Chris Relf "The athletes of P.P.H.S. have been busy the past two weeks prac- tising for the finals at the end of their seasons. In girls basketball the seniors and midgets played Eastdale Collegiate on Thursday, November 12. The seniors came up on the short end of a 37-35 score. This was the final game in their season. The midgets were victorious over Eastdale and advanced into the LOSSA finals on Saturday, where they were defeated by a strong Pickering team by a score of 41-39. The junior girls also went to the LOSSA finals on Satur- day. A powerful Brock squad put on end to their season; however, our Pee wees blast Pickering no trouble handling the teams until they next came up against a fast Bracebridge team. The team had trouble getting it together and made a lot of costly er- rors which caused unnecessary penalties. Unfortunately the Bracebridge team capitalized on our mistakes. Duane Empringham scored Port's only goal when he picked up a rebound shot from Steve Laird. Bracebridge was able to score 3 to our 1 goal. Congratulations to our goaltenders Rick Hutchinson and Shawn Larocque for some outstan- ding work throughout the tournament. The team played some fine hockey and hopefully our next tour- nament will see us come out the win- ners of a trophy. To our coaching staff thanks for a great weekend and some in- teresting memories about locked vehicles! Sports at PPHS juniors did win a pizza for reaching 25 points. The junior boys volleyball team travelled to Thornhill on Thursday, November 12 to compete in DYSSA. The team finished their season with a third place finish in DYSSA. On Thursday, November 19, the senior boys volleyball team went to Anderson Collegiate, where they won the consolation round at LOSSA. This qualified the team to compete in DYSSA, Tuesday November 24 in Toronto. There was a junior boys badmin- ton team elimination on Monday November 23. For further informa- tion contact Mr. Berry.
