Scoring for Compton were Peter Rough weekend The Stone Realty Pee Wees had a busy and rough weekend playing 4 games while winning only one. On Friday night we opened the Oakwood tournament against a very tough Bradford team and lost a close, hard fought game 3-0 with Bradford's last goal into an empty net. On Saturday the boys came up against a vastly superior King City team and deserve credit for keeping the score as close as it was. Although we let in 7 goals, Mat Willetts was outstanding in net as he faced 35 shots. On Saturday the Stone gang hosted Orono in a league game and were extremely flat losing by the score of 6-2. Adam Johnston scored both goals for Port while Jody Lane from Bill Hurst and John Robertson from Larry Page. In game three J & D Carpentry managed to out skate and went on to defeat Larocque Electric 5-0. Scoring for J & D were Bob Tar- botton 4 goals, 1 assist, Doug Bron- son 1 goal, 1 assist. Other assists to Pete VanWeston 3 assists, Terry Bacall, and Wayne Norton 1 each. Recording the shutout and playing a great game between the pipes for J & D was John Moore. Game four saw Sportsland finish the first round with yet another loss to Crandell"s Riverboat 3-1. Scorers for Crandell's were Ken Jeffrey 2 goals, Carl Durward 1 goal. Assists to Wayne Taylor, Steve Calder, Mike Driscoll, and Ron Davis 1 assist each. The lone marker for Sportsland was "Doc" Thomson from Scott Davis and Brian Samis. Logan picked up 2 assists and Chad Garvock one. On Sundigy night Port travelled back to Coon to face Omemee in the D final. The boys finally broke out of their slump with an 8-0 vic- tory. Billy Sandiford and Sean McEnaney each scored 2 goals while single markers went to Chad Garvock, Jody Logan, Adam Johnston and Kenny Winslow Jody Logan also added 3 assists while Narrell Vanderslagt and Chad Gar- vock each added 2. Hoop teams playing well by Jann Lally & Chris Relf Well sports fans, P.P.H.S. has been very busy during the past two weeks. The girls basketball teams are deep into their season, and the midgets are playing great. On Tues- day, October 27, the midgets played St. Marys, winning 55-23. On Thursday, October 29, they were defeated by a strong O'Neill squad. On Tuesday, November 3, the girls played a strong offensive game against Vanier, winning 54-8. The girls winning streak continued against Donevan on Thursday, November 5. The junior girls continued their winning streak during their trip to Kingston. They defeated the No. 1 team in Kingston showing everyone how good they really are. They played Vanier on Tuesday, November 3, being victorious with a score of 105-7. However, on Thurs- day, October 29, they came up short against a powerful O'Neill team. The senior girls played Thursday, October 29, against a team from O'Neill that had a definite height ad- vantage, and on Thursday, November 5, against Donevan. The team lost to both of the opposing teams. The P.P.H.S. cross-country team did extremely well at the DYSSA meet on Thursday, October. 29. Laura Mark placed 2nd in the midget girls division and Kari Gilbert advanced to OFSSA with her 7th place finish in the senior girls division. Petites win big The Port Perry Kinette Petite C Ringette team was successful in their first home game, beating Bob- caygeon 11-0 on Saturday night. In less than one minute of play, Linda Payne, assisted by Vicki Stainton, opened the scoring. Linda added 2 more goals and 1 assist to her record before the night was over. Playing for the first time this season, Angie Wierzbicki scored 2 goals and assisted on 3 others. Also adding to the score board were Deanna Dempsey with 1 goal, 2 assists, Sara Wanamaker 3 goals and 1 assist, Vicki Stainton 1 goal and 3 assists, Jean Templeman, 1 goal, Katherine Ellis, Lisa Dodd and Melissa Pereman were all credited with assists Although Shona Moase had an easy night in net she'll be ready for our next game in Knnismore at 12 noon on Sunday November 22 EEE PERRY STAR. Boys volleyball continues with the seniors losing to Anderson C.VA1. on Wednesday, October 28. The midgets travelled to Picker- ing for LOSSA and came up short against the No. 1 Ajax team. The P.P.H.S. rugby team played in a tournament on Thursday, The Juniors are well into the 1987-88 season. Sunday November 8th saw the girls up against Mariposa. This game was a fast moving, end to end game, with many chances for both teams to score. Kerri Allen had a great game bet- ween the pipes, despite Port losing 6-5. Leading the scoring was Kelly Calloway with a hat trick, Lisa Levy 1 goal, 1 assist, Nicole Slack 1 goal, with 2 assists each to Rachel 9 defeating Lawrence Park 12-0, and 18-0. Tween Ringette team opened their new season in fine style with a 12-7 victory in Bobcaygeon. The girls got 3 goals in the first period and then exploded for 9 more in the second, Valerie Payne led the way with 4 goals and one assist, Nicki Beare had 3 goals and one assist. Other pointgetters were Christine Mueller with 1 goal and 1 assist and Mandy Porter with 2 'goals. More girls could have figured in the scoring but there were only 4 assists awarded on the 12 goal total. Bristol Sleep played in goal for the first time in her first ever ringette game and did a fine job for Port Perry. The members of this years tween team are: Bristol Sleep, Christine Mueller, Danielle Cooper, Mandy Porter, Kelly Menzies, Lori Buscher, Nicki Beare, Valerie Bantams start quickly by Carol Wilbur The Goreski Insulation Bantam ""A' team are off to a fine start this year, with a record of 5 wins and 1 loss. In their last eague game against Pickering Village they walked away with a 8-1 win. Scoring for Port were Brian Ap- pleby with a big 4 goal game. Chris Legere also had a big night with 2 goals and 3 assists as did Scott Porter with 2 goals and 2 assists, John Collins had 1 goal and 3 assists. Jarett Harman had 2 assists as did Brett Puckrin, and Jason Towns had one assist. This year sees Paul Kett and Jamie Brown in goal, Brett Puckrin, Brian Appleby, Jason Towns and Steve Staniland on defense. Up on the forward lines are Jan Heyes, Payne and Laurel Menzies. On Sunday the girls played their home opener and came away with a 9-6 victory over Lindsay. This time most of the scoring came in the first half with 7 goals in the opening period. Nicki Beare, in a great effort, picked up 5 points, Nicki scored 3 goals and added 2 assists. Valerie Payne got 3 goals. Danielle Cooper and Kelly Menzies added 1 goal and 1 assist each. Christine Mueller had 1 goal and Lori Buscher got 1 assist. Once again only 4 assists were awarded on all 9 goals. Keep pass- ing girls -- the fans know who is set- ting up goals. Congratulations once again to Bristol for a good game in goal. The girls next home game is Sun- day Nov. 22 at 12:30 against Warkworth. Have a great season Port!
