Remembering his music and his smile Greenbank and Area News by Iva Phoenix Our community was saddened Friday with the passing of our friend and neighbour, Mr. Geordie Beare. His friendly smile and his musical contributions will be missed deeply. He was involved in many things in the community, including the plan- ning of the sing along at our 91st An- niversary Church service on Sunday. Rev. Ken Wardle was the speaker at the 91st Anniversary Church ser- vice Sunday. He ministers in the Chaplaincy Internship program at the Queen St. Mental Health Centre in Toronto. His sermon gave us much to think about, it was titled "The Church -- A Little Bit of Heaven - or What?" The beautiful Introit - **This is the Day Which the Lord Hath Made" was sung by the Jr. and Sr. Choirs. Mr. Hugh Baird favoured us with solo, 'Climb Every Mountain." The Sr. Choir sang "His Mercy En- dureth Forever Medley." The Jr. Choir sang "Up With People." Thanks to all for the beautiful music which was enjoyed by all. Miss Earla Hill has returned home for a stay, after her work for the summer on a cruise ship in the Caribbean and South America. Mr. and Mrs. John Olivero had a very happy few days when Joane's mother Mrs. Helen Bennett, her Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hunter along with her father Mr. Joe Symons, spent Saturday with their daughter Pat & Paul Studiniski in Guelph. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Couperthwaite visited in Unionville on the weekend, spent time with Mrs. Leslie Couper- thwaite, also Rev. Chapin (a former minister in Greenbank) at the Villa. Mrs. Dorothy lanson and Mrs. Shirley Lee visited recently with Mrs. Gary Duff, Mrs. Keith Heron and Mrs. Dale Luntz and Hastings and Dorothy's latest great-grandson Colin James Luntz. The hall committee's annual Halloween party was held on Fri- day, October 30 and the 50 or so kids 10 and under, who attended seemed to have a great time. aunt Mrs. Norma Bennett from Forester Falls, also her cousin Gwen Bennett of Tokyo, John's brother Steve and Kris Olivero of Toronto came for a visit. Mrs. Myrna Beare of Uxbridge spent the weekend with Mrs. Kathleen Leask. Visiting with Fred and Iva Phoenix recently were Mr. and Mrs. Mac Mustard of Leaskdale, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Simmons of Curtis, then on Sunday John & Marnie Phoenix and girls of Toronto enjoyed the day in the country. Manchester meeting The Thanksgiving meeting was held at Manchester Church on Oc- tober 8. Mrs. Eileen Tapscott was in charge of the worship and lunch. The meeting opened with singing Hymn 199 "For The Beauty Of The Earth" followed by prayer. Irene Lamb read Psalm 107. Eileen read a poem Thankful Heart.
