On Tuesday the midget and junior girls basketball teams challenged teams from Central Collegiate. Both of our teams were victorious with scores of 60-41 and 58-53 respective- ly. Top scorers for the midgets were Lisa Levy, Tammy Brunner, and Brenda Elford. Our junior girls team will be travelling to Kingston this week. Good luck girls; we'll be looking for- ward to the Kingston player arriv- ing in Port Perry in November. The senior girls basketball team have been practising for their tour- nament in Thornlea on the weekend. On Friday night they lost against a very strong team from Markham District High. On Saturday morning they played against Dunbarton - Secondary. Unfortunately, they came up short on this game also. A good effort was put forth by all team members. "The girls field hockey team end- ed their season on Wednesday. They played Anderson Collegiate - resulting in a tie. All team members played well and gave their best throughout the season. Congratula- tions girls. It's that time--of year again, Rebels, so dig into your closet and pull out your badminton racket. Practices are every Monday night from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. For more information contact Mr. Berry. the sign-ups for after-school curl- ing ended this week. Sixty-nine students showed their interest, resulting in an excellent turnout. The tryouts for the school team have not begun yet. For more informa- tion see Mrs. Byers. The P.P.H.S. track team have been busy practising for their LOSSA meet at Dagmar on Thurs- day. The practising paid off as Kari Gilbert, Laura Mark, Jason Guin- don, Tim Williams and Dave Irvine all qualified for DYSSA. Good luck. Our senior boys volleyball team played O'Neill Collegiate on Tues- day and Thursday. Although our team showed excellent blocking and spiking, the powerful O'Neill squad managed to stay ahead of our senior team. Better luck next time guys. Meanwhile, the midget and junior boys volleyball teams have been a busy practising for their games next week. P.P.H.S. Rugby team showed their skills in a tournament on Fri- day. Both the junior and senior teams placed second.'
