[ot pi 28 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, October 27, 1987 The Port Perry Lawn Bowling Club presented trophies to the winners of the Tues- day evening league when the annual banquet was held last week. On Friday, October 23, the Port Perry Legionnaire Pee Wees played a league game against Port Hope and came up with a win of 6-3. Only four minutes into the game Port took the lead with a goal by David Pashley, after picking up a pass from teammate Jeff Parry and who in turn received one from Chris MacLeod. The two teams played hard and steady throughout the balance of the first period. It wasn't long into the second period before Jason Cochrane made a backhand shot to score again for the Legionnaires. The pass came from Steve Laird and Jeff Andrews. Rick Hutchinson was in the net for Port and came up with some outstanding saves. In the second period Shawn Larocque was between the pipes for Port and was tested pretty well by the Port Hope players. Port Hope was able to score two goals to tie the game before the Legionnaires got back on the scoreboard. The Port Perry Petite 'B's' con- tinue their strong play in the Central Ontario Ringette League with a 3-2 win over Barrie, Sunday, October 25 at the Port Perry Arena. Port dominated the play from the opening free pass but were not able - to capitalize on any of their scoring opportunities until Amy Parliament scored at 5:28 of the first period with assists from Brandy Harris and Michelle Fitzpatrick. The first period ended with Port leading 1-0. The second period began with a JR. 'Cc' HOCKEY SUNDAY. NOVEMBER 1st HN HHH... Pee Wees win In the third period Jason McBride scored after picking up a deflection from Jason Cochrane. Nathan Brown chalked up Port Perry's next goal with an unassisted effort. Port was down two players when Jason Cochrane again scored with the assist from Jeff Andrews. Steve Laird finished off the scoring for the Legionnaires on a beautiful passing play from Jason McBride and Jason Cochrane. Port Hope scored their final goal with only 30 seconds left in the game. Great defensive work was done throughout this game by Peter King, Simon Traynor and Gavin Cochrane. On Saturday night the team travelled to the Oshawa Civic and played an exhibition game against the Oshawa Bruins. The teams played steady throughout and Port was again triumphant with a 1-0 win. The only goal scored was by Steve Laird on an unassisted effort at 8:20 in the third period. A strong effort flurry and the play going end to end with lots of scoring opportunities by both teams. Lyndsay Dutkewich in- creased Port Perrys lead with an unassisted goal at 10:50 of the se- cond period. Tanya Towns scored at 6:43 with a beautiful pass from Amanda Webb and Lyndsay Dutkewich. Barrie got on the scoreboard in the final minutes of play with two quick goals at 2:20and 1:19. Melissa Simpson and Heather Payne scored the goals with Mindy Foisie, Brandi Granger, and Arlene Coates contributing the assists. But against the odds, the boys eight year old team managed to capture fourth place The team includes Brad Hawker, Aaron Combdon, Travis VanKessel, Ardon Crowder, Evan Gower and Adam Andrews Those teams which placed third or higher at the October 15 meet, ran again yesterday, Monday October 26 at the Durham Region Meet, also at Dagmar.
