This has become such a regular occurrence that Frank whimsically calls himself the Lake Scugog Gar- bageman. Says he doesn't mind picking stuff up at all, if it means keeping his favourite getaway lake clean. Well, Sunday September 27 dawn- ed sweet and clear when Frank and Vivian looked out the window and decided it would be a great day for a cruise. So they boarded the Unicorn at its berth at West Shore Marine, and set sail for Port Perry. "A beautiful day," Frank recalls. "The lake was just like a sheet of glass." It was about, oh, 8:30 a.m. or so when Frank spotted what looked like a blue pail floating up ahead. Naturally, being the Lake Scugog Garbageman and all, he decided to pull up alongside the offending debris, and pluck it out of the water. Trouble was, he couldn't pull it out. The thing appeared to be stuck. In fact, he was just in the middle of a mighty tug when a power boat ap- proached, and a guy called out, "What the hell do you think you're doing?"' Frank, slightly offended, told him what he was doing. The guy in the power boat chuckled. "It's a marker for the regatta go- ing on today. Didn't you know there was a regatta going on?" Heck, Frank didn't know anything about the first annual 'Fall Classic" regatta, hosted by the Scugog Canoe Club. He just thought he was helping to clean up the lake, not trying to steal a buoy. When the power boat left, Vivian looked bemusedly at her husband, sighed, and said, '"Can't you do anything right, Frank?"
