Mr. and Mrs. Edmonds were interviewed by the well known Glenn Cochrane and also by Cathy Olliffe of the Port Perry Star. I'm sure you saw the enlightening arti- cle in last weeks paper. After their short time of stardom we then got on with their Anniversary Party. There was lots of gifts, cake, food, refreshments, decorations, picture taking, friends, family and of course att lots of love!! We were privileg- ed to be entertained by the beautiful voice of Mr. Bob Heayn. Words can- not express how much we enjoyed his singing. A very special thank you to Mr. Heayn. Tuesday we were all real busy packing our clothes for the over- night trip. We also made up a pic- nic lunch for the stop over at Mrs. Vera Crosier's cottage in the Haliburton Region. In the evening hours a church service was provid- ed by the Port Perry United Church. On Wednesday morning our 16 travelling residents boarded on a' bus to head off to the "Red Um- brella Inn." On our way we picked up 10 residents from the Cannington Bel Air Nursing Home. On our trip we all enjoyed the beautiful rocky hills, big lakes, and the lovely col- oured leaves. Our first stop was for a picnic lunch at our friends cottage - Mrs. Crosier - that was located on Lake Boskung. We all enjoyed the quiet relaxing atmosphere that sur- rrounded us. We then proceeded . back on the bus and headed off to our night accommodations. Everyone boasted about the lovely turkey dinner and trimmings that was served to us. We then split up into groups for our sleeping ar- rangements as we were in cabins. Our quaint little cabins were situated along the beautiful 12-Mile Lake shoreline. Before retiring for the night we gathered in the games- room for a sing-song and playing various games. Wearily we awoke the next mor- ning and went for a great breakfast. Later in the morning we again load- ed the bus and headed off to the Fenelon Falls waterfront for another fun picnic. After stuffing our tummys we then headed off tired but nonetheless we all had a tremendous holiday. Special thank-you to our organizers and anyone else involved. For the residents that were unable to make the trip they spent Wednes- day afternoon watching the emo- "Old Yeller." Friday, September 25 arrived with a lot of tired tourists dragging themselves around. Throughout the afternoon a Wheel of Fortune game was in action. The residents and staff would like to expand a warm welcome to Mr. William Stearman who recently moved in with us. Mr. Stearman previously lived in the Port Perry Villa where his wife still remains but is a daily visitor. Upcoming resident birthdays are Mrs. Norma Jeffrey (Oct. 3), Miss "Pearl Brethour (8), Mrs. Betty Ter- rett (9) and Mr. Ed Harris (12). Events that are planned over the next couple of weeks are Resident Council Meeting (Oct. 7), Harvest Party (9), Leaf Tour (13), and Sup- per Club (14). To end this weeks column the residents and staff would like to welcome back all of our valuable volunteers that had taken the sum- mer off to enjoy. It sure is nice to have them al] back.
