Nestleton-Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Blue Ray Chapter Carousel Year Closes The Blue Ray Chapter completed their Carousel of Faith, Love and Joy year, 1986-87, in fine style with Worthy Matron Elsie Wilbur assisted by Worthy Patron Norm Mairs welcoming members and guests fraternally in the East. The meeting was held in the Masonic Temple, Port Perry, with a nice assembly to make it a pleasant evening. Sisters Irene Sharpe, of Oakmont, Pa. and Harriet Dodson of Pittsburgh, Pa. U.S.A. who were visiting in Port Perry, were warm- ly welcomed to the East, to the tune of The Star Spangled Banner played by organist Carol Morrow. So nice to greet the Ladies and trust they will come again. During business...year end reports were presented, indicating a banner year in benevolent work. We do congratulate our hard work- ing officers and members and trust the future will be bright...as we move along to our 40th year, to be celebrated June 2, 1988. During the evening the Charter was draped in loving memory of Sister Daisy McNeely, who died May 3, 1987. v The fourth annual Fashion Show will be held September 28th at 8 p.m. at Town Hall, 1873. Tickets are available from Chapter members and Dor-Jean Fashions. Keep in mind that the Chapter has a wheel chair, crutches, and canes available to anyone needing same. Nestleton Presbyterian Church With a good number of relatives and friends in attendance, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stephenson, presented their son, Joey Andrew George, for Baptism at the morning service, by Rev. Fred Swann. Mr. George Scott, Clerk of Session, assisted, and the Godparents were Mr. and Mrs. Jay Flieler. The organist was Mrs. Joyce Taylor. The Psalm reading was from the Book of Praise No. 619 on Psalm 8. Scripture reading I Corinthians 13 - "The Love Chapter." Rev. Swann's sermon was entitled 'What The World Needs Most" - Love - which comes from God. Special service next Sunday at 11 a.m. when Rev. Dr. Moore, Port Perry, will be the guest speaker for the 142 anniversary. Special music is also planned. A luncheon will follow. Family News Sunday dinner guests with Lawrence & Gwen Malcolm of Nestleton, were their family...Glenn & Arlene and girls and David and Joanne and family. Mrs. Clara Schmid of Bowman- ville was also a supper guest. Mrs. Neta Fish of Nestleton, visited Heather Munro, Sonya on Wednesday, and in the evening had supper with Audrey Leishman...it being her birthday. Jim & Audrey Leishman & William of Reaboro were Sunday visitors with Neta, Calvin & Yvonne Holland & family, Nestleton. Neta & Yvonne attended the Trousseau Tea at neighbour Eric Locke's home on Sunday after- noon in honour of a new bride Lori Cole and what a lovely Tea it was...and Lori recieved some very lovely gifts. Our best wishes to this young couple starting out in life. Son Ralph Cawker, friend Dianne Riccio and son Jacob of Scar- borough, were dinner guests with Sam & Mabel Cawker at the farm. Caesarea Community Church A very good congregation at the | Carousel year wraps up Caesarea Church on Sunday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. W.H. Crawford conducting the service. He took as his text 2 Corinthians 12: 1 and spoke on '"Making Weakness Strength." Harry Kiezebrink gave the opening Prayer. Readers for the Scripture were Arden Maschke and Dan Pugh Jr., with Rev. Crawford leading the Responsive reading. Anne Maschke played the organ for the Hymns and Marjorie Pugh was in charge of the Church School. The children's weiner roast will be held this Wednesday, September 16, at Jerry's farm - parents are in- vited to attend. The following week the Sunshine Club will go back into action. Caesarea Euchre Commences The Caesarea Euchre has com- menced again for the new season under the sponsorship of the Ladies Auxiliary, held at the hall, Wednes- day evenings at 8 p.m. It is their aim to make the card parties as en- joyable as possible, with a nice lunch after the game. We trust they will have the support of the public "to make the parties interesting. Last weeks results were: First prize - Norman Rohrer with 73. Three tied for second prize - Glenna Dean, Mary Poots and Paul Krawetts with each holding 65. Low score - Gwen Robins with 51. Lunch by Glenna Dean & Anne Harran. Hh Nestleton United Church A good attendance for Sunday morning with Norm & Bernice Mairs the greeters at the door. Rev. Dale Davis in old fashioned circuit ministers dress looked very hand- some...and used as his theme, "In The Beginning." There were lots of children present for the opening of Sunday School. Gwen Malcolm - organist. Youth Retreat Weekend: Friday, September 18 and Sunday September 20. A contribution of tarts, cookies or squares would help at snack time.
