First place went to Gayle Burgess, Ena Walker, Lindsay G.C., Phyl New, Whitevale G.C., and Kim Huestis, Crestwood G.C. With a two under par 71, 2nd place went to Joyce Cassells, Kedron Dells G.C., Thelma Innes, Dunsford G.C., Peg Nevison, Lind- say G.C., and Audrey McBrien, Crestwood G.C. Third place was taken by Beth Rowland, Crestwood G.C, Jean Biggs, Lindsay G.C, Anne Meester, Sunnybrae G.C., and Pat Timgren, Crestwood G.C. The second annual Crestwood 54 hole open had an exciting finish on the Civie Holidav weekend. Peter Scramble Clifford shot a one under par 69 to finish with 218 for a come from behind victory. The last years' win- ner David Hales led after two rounds but finished second with 224. Third place went to Paul Doucet who finished strong with a 226. In the handicap division of the tourna- ment, Ernie Rowland led wire to wire with his landslide victory. Er- nie shot a net 27 under par. Brian Carlisle slipped into second place with a net 16 under par. Fourteen year old Darrell Hales was only one shot behind Ernie after two rounds, but couldn't keep up with the leader and slipped back to third at 15 under par. The tournament was very suc- cessful -- even the rain didn't dampen the spirits. bowling competitions Port Perry Lawn Bowling Club has been the scene of much activi- ty in the past few weeks. On August 15, "The Lone Cup" was won by Rose Willoughby, Skip, Edna Beckett, Vice, and Joyce Stephenson, lead - Port Perry. On August 18, the winners of the mixed trebles were. On August 23. an anniversary tournament was held to com- memorate one year in the new facilities with over 70 Port Perry members attending, followed by a pot luck supper and an evening of excellent entertainment. August 26, was the I.G.A. Trophy with Mel Meulemeester--and Lil Midgely, Port Perry, winning the trophy with a high score for 3 games; 2nd high with 3 games went to B.
