The Gamblers stranded eleven base runners during the game as in- ning after inning, runners were left in scoring position. Stouffville on the other hand had only four base runners during the game and managed to score one of those. In the bottom of the second in- ning after two were out, third sacker 1 John Tait slapped a drive to right centre that went by the fielder and ended up as a triple. The next bat- ter then beat out an infield hit off the pitchers glove to score the only run of the ball game. Mark Goreski pitched an ex- cellent game on the Gambler mound and was only in trouble in the second inning. He struck out five batters and didn't walk a man. John Annis on the hill for Stouff- ville was equally sharp and struck out ten Gamblers and many with runners in scoring position. Don Beaton had a pair of Green- bank hits including a long double to the centre field fence. The C.N.E. Tournament was a new experience for the Gambler team and in general they perform- ed well in the field but failed to come up with the key hits. Last Monday night in Greenbank Park the Gamblers hosted the Oshawa M.C.L. Jrs. and they prov- ed to be rather poor hosts as they thumped Oshawa by a 10-0 score. Ken Goreski was at his puzzling best in this game as he kept the Oshawa batters guessing throughout the game and gave up only two hits to preserve his shutout. Terry Till, George Redshaw and Rodd Real each had a pair of safeties for Greenbank with single hits going to Trevor Till, Don Beaton, Brian Henricks and John Foster. This coming weekend sees the Gamblers team at the Fenelon Falls Invitational Tournament with their first game scheduled for Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. against a team from Toronto. The Fenelon Falls Tournament runs through un- til Monday (Labour Day) and one year ago the Gamblers made it all the way to the final game before los- ing to Mulberrys from Etobicoke by a 1-0 score. The Oshawa '""A" Division Tour- nament will be held the weekend of September 19 and 20 and it is ex- pected that some of the tournament games will be played in Greenbank Park.
