Andrew Pereman pitched well in the 4th inning by striking out 2 bat- ters and earning the win, went 2 for 2 at the plate and stole home for the winning run for XL Eagles. Wade Sheedy went 2 for 3 at the plate in- cluding a 2 run triple in the first in- ning and made 2 put outs at 3rd base. For McTaggart's Electric, Adam McTaggart hit a grand slam homerun while Brad Lemieux hit a triple and Tom Durwood a double. In a close game on August 12, Taylor's Gulf came from behind in the bottom of the 5th to beat Brian's Towing by a score of 8 to 7. Matt Mantel hit a homerun driv- ing in 3 runs to win the game for Taylor's Gulf while Kenton LeFort hit a triple. Jay Tredway pitched well for 4 innings while Bill Zaparanuik came in to pitch in the Star wins second July 28, 1987 Port Perry Star won their second game of the season beating Gord Lewis 12-9. Linda Mahaffy hit 2 HRs for the Lewis team & Tanya Towns hit 1 HR as well as good pitching. Allison Holtby also pitched well for the Lewis team. Melissa Rankin hit a solid triple which drove in 3 runs for the Star & Tricia Young did some good pitching for her team as well. Lauri Dale caught 2 pop flies at short stop which made the last out to end the game. A close game was played between the Marsh Hill Jerseys & Cummings Backhoe with the latter coming ahead 17-12. Kiley Kearns smashed 2 HRs in- cluding a grand slam for the Jer- syes. Jenny Taylor also had 2 HRs to help with the Jersey effort. Lynd- sy Yorke did some good fielding for the Backhoe druing their win. - game in season Co Joanne Boyce nailed a HR for her team to help the Backhoe with their no loss string. The Squirt Tournament is Satur- day, August 12 in Port Perry. August 4, 1987 Good pitching & solid batting gave Cummings Backhoe yet another win '29-3 over the PP Star team. Robyn Cliff hit a HR and made good plays on 2nd base while Dana Russell had a solid hit and made a spectacular slide into 2nd base. Michelle Cummings was her teams leading hitter with 3 HRs, 2 doubles and 9 RBI's. Melissa Vaughn had a hot glove on 2nd base for the Star team and team-mate Laura Dale was equally sharp with her mit on short stop. Holidays plagued the Hank's Pastries team who gave up to the Gord Lewis team by default.
