TI ryt THI II I rT I 8 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, July 21, 1987 Random Jottings (From page 6) only imagine that all they will get on the finished photo is a great shot of the backs of peoples' heads. I guess all I am trying to say. is -- if people would only think before they shoot (including myself), we could all save a lot of money on undesirable photos. But undesirable or not, I'll probably never throw out ¢ ll those limp, faded pictures that are stored away in the base- ment. After all, they are a part of our past, and everybody likes remembering the "good ole days." LIGHTS LOOK GREAT About one year ago, the Scugog Chamber of Commerce decided to put some big money into a project to beautify Queen Street. Well, the project is now complete and from the comments I have heard to date, the public is very pleased with the outcome. The new benches, garbage containers and street lights are a welcome addition to downtown, and we can only hope that the property will be respected. There has already been one report of a garbage container being thrown onto the street, and a hinge being broken. While driving through town last Thursday night, Queen Street took on a certain quaintness that was-not there when the large lights suspended to the buildings were there. If you haven't seen the lights at night, take a walk downtown soon. I'm sure you'll approve of the new look. YES YOU CAN WALLCOVERINGS WALLPAPER Mb WA ar LLPAPER off ORDERS 183 QUEEN ST.. Manicures and peticures were held on Wednesday (8th). At 8:00 p.m. in the diningroom was a Flower & Vegetable Show hosted by the Pine Ridge Garden Club. Several helpful hints were passed along. Thursday was a craft day. Several residents took part in making table favours for Bahama Day. Ice cold lemonade was served afterwards and was greatly appreciated on such a warm day. Friday July 10 we had a Beach Party as part of Bahama Day. We all got into the spirit of things by wearing our best Bahamian outfits. Best dressed costume awards went to Dorothy Archer and Joan Tuck. A discussion on the Bahamas was in progress and then followed by a quiz. Afterwards we cooled down in the hot weather by having a water balloon game. The afternoon ended with a refreshing tropical punch and some fresh fruit. We hope that if you were downtown on the Friday of the Dahama Days weekend that you saw our display table and bought one of our lucky draw tickets.
