DJ's HAD FUN When Bill Ballinger and myself (the old Inn Crowd) took Ao the stage last Thursday night-to spin a few moldy oldies, we couldn't believe the number of old friends we saw in the crowd. The music brought back a lot of memories for both Bill and myself, and by all reports of the comments I have heard since the dance, those who attended also had a great time. We've been asked if we'll be back again next year, but for the time being we'll just say "it was fun." As for next year -- well, we'll see! Yesterday's Memories (From page 5) 10 YEARS AGO Wednesday, July 13, 1977 a - Construction of houses in Apple Valley Subdivision in Port Perry is well underway with the first occupants expected to be able to move in early next month. A cheque for $250 was presented July 5 by the Theta Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi to the Central Seven Association for the Mentally Retarded, to be used to establish reference libraries for parents and teachers at public schools in Prince Albert and Port Perry, and at the Association office. Chrystal raises $944 to win Sexy Person contest Chrystal Menzies is the Sexiest Person in Scugog. The ever-smiling Canada Post employee was downright buoyant as she accepted her prize (a trip for two to the Bahamas) Saturday night at the bandshell. And while she said a lot of thank- you's while on stage, it was Chrystal herself who worked incredibly hard canvassing everyone she ran into for money. In the end, Chrystal had manag- ed to collect an amazing $944.80. It was all the more amazing consider- ing she had no large donations -- the money was all collected by a penny here, a dollar there, over the last few weeks. Following closely behind Chrystal, in second place, was Roy Walker Smith with $879.77. Carol Smith raised the third largest amount with $754.17. An OPP spokesperson said more than 500 vehicles were stopped by officers resulting in five charges of impaired driving and eight tem- porary (12 hour) driving licence suspensions. The spot checks were conducted Thursday to Sunday on Highway 7 and on Highway 12.
