SQUIRT BOYS In Squirt Boys Softball action, XL Eagles beat Brian's Towing by a score of 18 to 6'on June 30. For XL Eagles, Gary Norton had a great night at the plate hitting 2 grand slam homeruns and striking out the 3 batters that tte faced with only 10 pitches in the final inning of -the game. For Brian's Towing, Brad Richardson made a nice catch at se- cond base to end an inning, and © showed a good eye at the plate to draw a walk. Pitchers were Ian McClelland, Steve Stiles and Rusty Hood. They are starting to improve with the wind-mill style. Steve Stiles had a big hit to drive in several runs. On July 1, Norton's Home Im- provements beat Norm's General Contracting by a score of 11 to 5. Steve Desautels pitched another great game and got good relief help from Sean Ball for Norton's Home Improvements while Brent Harper made a diving play at first for an out on a line drive down the first base line and nearly threw another run- ner out at second. For Norm's General Contracting, Danny Wood got on base twice and scored one run while Paul Linton had a solid hit and made a good catch at shortstop. In Seagrave, McTaggart's Elec- tric stayed in first place by solidly beating Taylor's Gulf Service 13 to 3. = McTaggart's Electric made the = first triple play of the season with Brandon Puckerin catching a fly ball in centre field and throwing out the runner at second base and Kent = Taylor rifled the ball to Peter King = at home plate who tagged out the runner who was stealing home. 4+ Good play, boys! ! Don Frew's team won with a score of 19-9; For Frew's Yvette Renes, Kevin Gable and Mike Robinson hit singles while Mark Simmons and Janet Kel- ly hit doubles. Chris Chorostecki and Barry Ross both hit triples. Outstanding catches were made by Adam Cummings and Bradley Malcolm. Great pitching was done by Chris Chorostecki. Outstanding catching done by Tracy Malcolm. For Lishman's Tanya Mappin made a great catch -and Scott Sut- ton was a great back catcher. Home runs were hit by Ronnie Vokens and Adam Mitchell and Cliff Pelrine and Travis Mitchell both hit doubles. Scott Sutton hit a single. 'Also on July 1 at the diamond in 2 handed the home team favourite, -- Cgesaea- Turner's Green- Giants - beat Super Spuds with a score of 26-7. Scott Goble and Shawn Lewerentz both hit two homeruns and Ryan Larmer hit one homerun and a triple. Brent Donnelly hit a double. An outstanding catch was made by Shawn Lewerentz on shortstop. 'Mancon Services Mites from Greenbank defeated the 'Lucyk- McPhee Construction team 23-7. Great catching and defense by Jeremy Gibson and Michael Phoenix who also had homeruns.: Mathew Blowe had a nice homerun and Trevor MacSween who made a nice double play on first base by himself. : Great game played by Dana Hooker and Travis Howell who got on base every time at bat bringing in lots of runs. On June 29 Seagrave defeated Home Hardware by a score of 19-3. Scoring for Home Hardware were Jamie Sauter, Christine Bryant and Jenny Hillier on Kevin Cochrane's double. Jason Lown, Christine Bryant and Adam Jones played well defensively for Home Hardware. yan Puckrin, Mark Turnbull and Devril Parry all had four hits while Joel Brown, Kevin Durward and Holy Jackson all had three hits. Dixie Lee gets its revenge After last weeks 17-13 loss to Greenbank, the Dixie Lee team must have been traded away because this week they played great. It was a new team. - Tiffany Whalen made two beautiful catches at second base on line drives and Christina Dale brought the crowd to its feet with a ~ good slide into home plate.
