SQUIRT BOYS In Squirt Boys Softball action, XL Eagles beat Brian's Towing by a score of 18 to 6'on June 30. For XL Eagles, Gary Norton had a great night at the plate hitting 2 grand slam homeruns and striking out the 3 batters that tte faced with only 10 pitches in the final inning of -the game. For Brian's Towing, Brad Richardson made a nice catch at se- cond base to end an inning, and © showed a good eye at the plate to draw a walk. Pitchers were Ian McClelland, Steve Stiles and Rusty Hood. They are starting to improve with the wind-mill style. Steve Stiles had a big hit to drive in several runs. On July 1, Norton's Home Im- provements beat Norm's General Contracting by a score of 11 to 5. Steve Desautels pitched another great game and got good relief help from Sean Ball for Norton's Home Improvements while Brent Harper made a diving play at first for an out on a line drive down the first base line and nearly threw another run- ner out at second. For Norm's General Contracting, Danny Wood got on base twice and scored one run while Paul Linton had a solid hit and made a good catch at shortstop. In Seagrave, McTaggart's Elec- tric stayed in first place by solidly beating Taylor's Gulf Service 13 to 3. = McTaggart's Electric made the = first triple play of the season with Brandon Puckerin catching a fly ball in centre field and throwing out the runner at second base and Kent = Taylor rifled the ball to Peter King = at home plate who tagged out the runner who was stealing home. 4+ Good play, boys! ! Also, Peter King hit a 3 run homer while Kent Taylor '§ went 3 for 3 at the plate and made 3 excellent catches while playing = first base. "= Darryl Moase made a double play at second base for Taylor's Gulf Centre while Greg Thompson played well behind the plate. In Nestleton, Irwin Smith Music ~ Cartwright Lioness, a 16 to 9 loss. The pitching was shared by Derrick Malcolm and Dustin Marnoch who both did a superb job. Allison Crowder got a great out at second. Don Frew's team won with a score of 19-9; For Frew's Yvette Renes, Kevin Gable and Mike Robinson hit singles while Mark Simmons and Janet Kel- ly hit doubles. Chris Chorostecki and Barry Ross both hit triples. Outstanding catches were made by Adam Cummings and Bradley Malcolm. Great pitching was done by Chris Chorostecki. Scott Goble and Shawn Lewerentz both hit two homeruns and Ryan Larmer hit one homerun and a triple. Brent Donnelly hit a double. An outstanding catch was made by Shawn Lewerentz on shortstop.
