This is the se- cond year for the Festival of Arts It will be held on Saturday, July 11 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in conjunc- tion with Festival Days Carvers present show and sale Members of the Birdseye Centre Carvers Club will be having a show and sale in the Latcham Centre on Saturday, July 11th, from 10a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of the Festival of Arts on the Lake. Among the hundred or so items on display will be songbirds, ducks, geese, clocks, a rocking horse and various other in- teresting pieces. Some of the members will be showing their first carved piece and others will be showing their prize winning carv- ings from the Toronto Sportsmen's Show, the World Championships, etc. This year the club will be holding a Ribbon of Merit Competition. Rib- bons will not be awarded for the best carvings.on display but for a good effort by a new carver. If you have an interest in learning to carve, or to join the club, please feel free to speak to any of the . members at the exhibit. The Festival of Arts is designed to be a show and sale for artisans in our area. There are numerous ar- tistic people in our midst and this provides an opportunity to collec- tively display their work and give people an opportunity to buy We have attracted many new ar- tists this year as well as our regulars. The quality of work IS ex- cellent, including weaving, jewellery making, silk painting, paintings, wood working, pottery, folk art, dolls, toys, decorative wreaths and baskets, wood carving, sewing, knitting, quilling, flower ar- ranging, stained glass, apple head dolls, tin punching porcelin dolls, creative t-shirts, dough craft, yes there should be something for everyone, a must to see The weather being willing our "show will be in the beautiful setting of the park on the lake where you will be able to amble at your leisure and take in the artistic. In the event of rain we will be in the Town Hall 1873, on Queen and Lilla Streets. A new feature this year will be a larger display by the Birdseye Cen- tre Carvers Club. The carving show will be held indoors in the Latcham Centre rain or shine. Let's hope for a beautiful sunny day where we can all get together for this creative endeavor on July 11. Sunday school picnic was a huge success Utica and Area News by Vera Brown The Sunday School picnic which was held this past week in Utica was a huge success. Following lunch in the newly renovated basement, races & games were held outside.
