Caesarea News by Mabel Cawicer Birthday Party An Exciting Event A most interesting birthday par- ty was held on Sat. June 27th for 7 year old 'Avril Walker hosted by Regenia & David Walker at their home on Lake Scugog. The guest list included: Deanna Latreille, Jana Senyk, Hilary Nolan, Mary Justyn- - ski, Jessica Derynck, Lindsay Allward, Jennifer Smith, Alexandra & brother Kyle Walker. Upon arrival, the guests played many exciting & fun games, follow- ed by a delicious lunch with a love- ly chocolate birthday cake & ice- cream. Then Avril had fun opening the gaily coloured gifts ... which were much appreciated. Later the girls delighted in boat rides & a refreshing swim to top off the par- ty. Best wishes to Avril on her big day! Caesarea Euchre At the final card party held at the Caesarea Centre the following were the prize winners. First: Glenn Dean 74; second was a tie with Henry Visser & Geo. Mathewson each holding 72. Low- Roy Werry 57. Norman Rohrer won the lone hands for the month of June with 13. Lunch by Glenna Dean & Penny Dundan. Euchres will discontinue for the summer & resume again in 'Sept. Those interested watch this column for information! Family Reunion Hosted Morgan & Wanda Sears of Caesarea, hosted a wonderful fami- ly reunion for the Morgan & Sears family with 44 folks on hand for the "gala" evént, held at the Sears waterfront cottage. Travelling the greatest distance for the reunion was Louise Woodhouse from Yellowknife. Another family came 3 from Calgary, Alta. The day was en- joyed by all. What a great idea to have the family all together for a special celebration! "Lake Scugog Annual Regatta & Field Day The Lake Scugog Annual Regat- ta will be held August 1st, 2nd & 3rd ... the Civic Holiday weekend. This will be the 55th year.this fine event has been held in Caesarea, and there will be many activities to at- tract young & old alike. A weekend for all to enjoy! Start making plans now for this exciting three days. More information as we move nearer the time ... in this column. Family News Lawrence & Gwen Malcolm of Nestleton, were pleased to have as guests last weekend, their son Barry & wife Joan of Simcoe ... and daughter Bonnie Bilton & most. of her family of Lyndhurst. With other local family members they attend- ed the Van Nest Reunion at the Nestleton Community Centre on Sunday. Weather was ideal & a good time was had by all. Recent guests with Lawrence & Gwen Malcolm were Grant & Georgina Brooks of Port Hope. Mrs. Neta Fish of Nestleton, at- tended the graduation ceremony of her grandson Jamie Leishman on Tues. evening held in Ops Elemen- tary School. A very impressive event! Neta stayed overnight with daughter Audrey & Jim Leishman at Reaboro, returning home on Wed. morning. Michael Leishman ... another grandson, graduated on Friday evening as a Welder & has a position already. Our warmest congratulat®ons to the boys! Surprise Baby Shower A surprise baby shower was held .recently for Leslie Andrews of ~ Scugog Point, hosted by Marg 'McKibbon & Doreen Rush, with 'over 30 people in attendance ... held at Doreen's lovely home on Lake Scugog. Blue balloons & blue streamers were among the decora- tions & a miniature crib held a host of gaily wrapped parcels. Upon arrival of the guest of honour, Leslie & son Jason, a delicious luncheon was served with Graduation antl ~ Paul Van Camp, son of Donna and Glenn Van Camp graduated from the University of Waterloo with his Bachelor of Mathematics Degree. Paul was enrolled in the Honours, Co-op Chartered Accountancy Pro- gram and will be continuing employment with M. Finkelstein & Partners Chartered Accountants, 2 Bloor St. West, Toronto. Registra- tion at 8:30 a.m. "Shot-gun start at 9 a.m. The Churches A good attendance at the Caesarea Community Church on Sunday, June 28th at 11 a.m. with student minister Teo Hoekstra giv- ing the call to worship & the Invoca- tion Prayer. Responsive reading was led by Arden Maschke Rev. Dr. W.H. Crawford read Scripture from James 4: 1-17 & his sermon theme, "Making Satan Flee' -- a very powerful message with excellent ad- vice. Kathy Tromans & Marjorie Pugh were in chargé of the children's church. After singing the fine old hymn 'Tell me the old, old story' Rev. Crawford pronounced the Benediction. Music- Mrs. K. Watts & Mrs. A. Maschke. The Teen Club's final meeting Thurs. at 7:30 p.m. -- closing for 'the summer months. With Harold & Muriel Wheéler greeting at the door at Nestleton United Church, it was a pleasure to welcome Elaine Barber to the pulpit. Elaine spoke on "Life & Death Struggle' based on Matthew 13: 44-52 & Genesis 32: 22-32. The Ladies. quartet composed of Regenia Walker, Kat Notman. Bet- ty Headon & Janice MacKenzie sang a favourite number 'How Long Has It'Been" accompanied by organist Gwen Malcolm. Next Sunday, July 5th, 10:30 a.m. a combined outdoor worship service at Blackstock charge will be held at the home of Cliff & Chris Davis, Scugog Point Road. Bring along your favourite lawn chairs. Feel free to bring your own picnic lunch for a fellowship meal after service. In the event of rain, worship will be held in Nestleton church at 10-30 a.m. August 15th- a church yard sale at will be the hour of service, with supply ministers; and during August- a month's holiday while Rev. Swann is away Our Congratulations Warmest congratulations & best wishes go to Ernie Ellis & Valerie Mappin who were united in holy matrimony in Nestleton United Church, on Sat. June 27th. The reception was held in Manvers Com- munity Centre. The happy couple, Ernie & Valerie Ellis will reside in Blackstock. Youth Group The Blackstock Youth group would like to thank everyone who nation ... Canada Day This Wed. July 1st, Canadians all across the nation will celebrate this country's birthday. In spite of many internal problems ... the gloom & doom coming from all parts of the we trust those who live here will salute Canada with pride on our 120th birthday with some feeling & say, 'I am glad to be a ( "anadian. " We haven't given up yet - let's think positively! High School Reunion We trust the Port Perry High School Reunion was a great success .. a fun-filled, nostalgic weekend ... meeting old classmates. The hard supported them in their car wash held June 19th & 20th. It was much appreciated. Nestleton United Church 1s being planned. Any donations welcome. Rey. Fred Swann conducted the 10 a.m. service in the Nestleton Presbyterian Church with Joyce Taylor- organist. Psalm 119° 1-16 were read & 65-80. The sermon was based on "The Word of God™™ A Liv- ing:Book. & summer reading "The Bible" particularly the Psalms were recommended. During July, the regular 10 a m commended.
