Celebrates 25 Years At Nestleton United on a beautiful Sunday morning, President Janice MacKenzie and Unit Leaders Jean Willams & Kay Notman were the warm, genial greeters at the door Pleased to have a number of former members as well as friends from Blackstock present. President Janice was the chairperson for the service and in her competent man ner extended a cordial welcome to all for the special' day Guest speaker Betty Turcott of HH Durham Bowmanville, was introduced by Carol Mairs. In her excellent message Betty spoke on the "An niversary Celebration . Past, Pre sent and Future leaving many thoughts for all to take home. It was a triumph of effort and ingenuity with UC W participation ... giv- ing new flavour and zest to the work of the UC. W_for the future. It hangs on the a work of Art ... most beautifully done. The committee surely have skill & im- agination with a creative bent. They are to be congratulated! Lovely floral arrangements were placed about the church ... adding a final touch. In the S.S. Room the table was groaning with a lovely assortment of finger rolls, relishes, tea & coffee -- centered by the at- tractively decorated anniversary cake .. which was cut by Leona Sadler & Mabel Cawker. A social time was enjoyed visiting with friends after it was served. Warmest appreciation to all who had a share in planning this eventful day of memories -- it was just great in every way! A day we'll never forget! As we go our separate ways, let us remember what we have a pleasant surprise. UCW celebrates 25 anniversary been South for seven months & we surely missed them Audrey Leishman & son William of Reaboro, were visiting with her mom Neta Fish just recently. Very glad to see Neta feeling much bet- ter after a few days illness. Wayen & Millie Cadotte of Nestleton, are the proud grand- parents of their first grandson, Cor- ey, infant son of Larry & Lorrie North of Alvinston, born June 2nd in Petrolia Hospital. Millie Cadotte, her mother Mrs. Vera Sullivan of Chatham, daughter Sherry & Jeremy Smith & Ashley, had a lovely holiday recently In Ohio. A nice change of pace! Norm & Bernice Mairs spent the weekend visiting relatives -- first in Sundridge - spent some time with Bernice's family .. Cecil & Thelma Kent, Lewis & June Kent, & Bob & Violet Milne, then on Sunday, they attended a picnic for the Cooper family (Norm's mother's family) held in the Provincial Park at Parry Sound with approximate- ly 70 present. A great weekend of visiting! Nestleton Presbyterian Church Rev. Fred Swann conducted the morning service at Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. with Joyce Taylor, organist. Psalm 103 was read in unison, & from the ""Liv- ing Faith" the selection on "Our Hope In God." Scripture Matthew 6: 3-15. Rev. Swann continued the study of Nestleton % i Sister Elsie, Officers & members. Donations were given to many wor- thy causes $500 to Community Memorial Hospital; $300 to Estarl Fund: $100 to Sick Children's Hospital; $100 to Community Care; $50 to Kidney Foundation; $50 to Cancer Fund. The Worthy Matron"s project ... a wheelchair for Central Seven reached its' goal. Another great Year for Blue Ray members _. very dedicated workers! Recipes are needed for the 40th anniversary project ... a cookbook to be compiled during the summer. Please send your favourite recipes to any of the following: Karel Not- tingham, Elsie Wilbur & Margaret Jeffrey. After closing, a social hour of fellowship was enjoyed. Delicious cookies, tarts & squares topped off with tea & coffee were served by the committee, Isabel Wilson assisted by Jean McDermott, Kay Walker & Elsie Wilbur. Eva MacDonald was the holder of the high score with 80. Irene Train came in close behind with Thomas with 55. Lunch was supplied by Mary Ryan & Gerry Taylor & served by Irene Train & friends. A nice social time was enjoyed at the close.
