bok iE Fas A a i On Tuesday June 9, the Green- bank All-Stars travelled to Newmarket to play their fifth game of the season. The Greenbank All-Stars came out anxious and ready to win right from the start and chalked up their first run when John Ennis took a walk and was driven home by a smashing hit from John Chronis to make the score 1-0 for Greenbank. In the top of the second Green- bank got on the board again when 6 runs came in with the help of a few walks and a couple of dandy hits by * John Ennis, Brett Puckrin and Dan Sluggett. This Made the score 6-1 for the All-Stars. Greenbank went on to win 17-10 with lots of help at bat from Ken Winslow, Tim Timms, Barclay Phoenix and Darrin Bacon. In the field Greenbank was great as usual with John Chronis stopping everything that came to him and Peter Loughran doing some fine work in the field. On the mound, Brett Puckrin chalked up 6 strike outs in 5 innings and John Ennis, the "terminator" came in to relieve for Brett in the bottom of the 5th with the score 8-3 for Greenbank. John pitched super and kept Greenbank well ahead of their opposition throughout the game. After a big win over Newmarket on Tuesday, Greenbank then travelled to Stouffville on Thursday, June 11 to conclude their long road trip. With rain and the cold it didn't look as if there was to be a game but Greenbank being tough, rugged anc ready to play anytime wanted to play and as a result did. The game started off when Barclay Phoenix hit a nice single and then was driv en home by a whopper of a hit by Tim Timms resulting in a triple. This giving Greenbank the edge 10. But it didn't take long for Stouff- ville to get on the board when in the bottom of the first got 1 run to make the score tied at 1. ' There was no scoring until the top of the third and that's when Barclay Phoenix got another single and was driven home by Brett Puckrin mak- ing the score 2-1 for Greenbank. Greenbank's tight defense kept Stouffville off the board but in the bottom of the fifth, it looked like pit- cher Brett Puckrin was getting tired and a pulled chest muscle didn't help much either when Stouffville cracked 4 runs in to make the score 5-3. Greenbank looked like they were done for, but in the top of the sixth it seemed as if Greenbank was com- ing alive. The adrenaline was pum- ping among the players! They didn't want a defeat, they wanted victory. It was Ken Winslow who came up big with a drive to centerfield resulting in a single. Dan Sluggett took a walk as well as Darrin Bacon to load the bases for John Ennis. He knew what he wanted and got it] A beautiful hit to left-field resulting in a double and driving home 2 runs to make the score 5-5. Greenbank was finally: put down but not for long because in the top of the seventh, John Chronis got a base hit and was driven home by 'Ken Winslow's line drive to right- C artwright H.L. On June 8th Lishmans met Don Frew & Sons at Caesarea. It was a very close game. Lishmans won with a final score of 17-16. Bradley Malcolm got a home run. Yvette Renes, Jennifer Copithorn and Tracy Malcolm all batted in 'doubles. Mike Robinson and Janet Kelly both hit singles. Turners Green Giants at Blackstock on June 9. The score was 27-8 for Port Perry Kinsmen. For the Kinsmen Jason got a grand slam while both Sean O'Donoghue and Mike Leeming got home runs. A double was batted by Blaine Pelrine and singles by David Kemp, Scott Nesbitt, Matthew Bradburn: Outstanding catches were made by Mike Leeming. Brad - Morton and Gordon Bently. Jason Logan and Brad Morton shared the pitching. both doing a great job while the catching was shared by Jeremy Malcolm and Scott Nesbitt. Gordon Bently made an excellent double play. The teams outstanding fielders were Steven Kyte, Tracy Doyle, Lori Boyce, Katherine Ellis and William Michelle. i For Turners, Green Giants, Brent Donnelly played a fabulous game with a grand slam, a home run and a dingle. Doubles were batted in by Shawn Levrins and John McCourt. Brian Nash, Brad Volkins, and Scott Goble got singles. Outstanding cat- ches were made by Ryan Larmer and Kirk Swain. Fabulous pitching ~ was handled by Kirk Swain and Shawn Levrins. Kirk struck out three players in the first inning. Super Spuds played Turners Green Giants on June 10 at Caesarea. The Giants won with a Port Perry Kinsmen played. score of 18-8. For Super Spuds Dougie Lynd hit a triple and both Kingsley Malcolm and Beth" Dunkley hit singles. Adam Vivian and Leanne Goslin did a fabulous job of pitching and Ryan Copithorn made an excellent double play. ~ For Turners Green Giants, Brent Donnelly, Ryan Larmer and Sean Lewerentz all hit home runs. Brad Vokins got a triple and Mike Nash and John McCourt got doubles. Great catches were made by Brent Donnelly and Sean Lewerentz. On June 10 Don Frew & Sons beat Lishmarns at Blackstock. The score was 20-14. Bradley Malcolm, Adam Cumm- ings and Barry Ross hit triples and Gerry Stevens got a double. Singles were hit by Mark Sim and Jennifer Copithorn. Outstanding catches were made by Mike Robinson and Adam Cummings. Fabulous pit- ching was done by Tracy Malcolm and great back-catching by Yvette field. This was followed by 2 walks by Peter Loughran and Dan Slug- gett, thus loading the bases for good ole John Ennis who cracked home his first 'grand slam" of the season to make the score 10-5. Stouffville then got a few in the bottom of the seventh but Green- bank held on to win 10-8. The Greenbank All-Stars have ATTENTION HUNTERS! DEER LICENCES are now available.
