Cornish School in Port Perry performed very well in the Durham Region track & field finals held June 10 at the Civic Fields in Oshawa. The school team ran up a total of 146 points against outstandigg com- petition from the elementary school athletes in the Region. Gretchen Cornish set a new record for 12 year old girls in the 100 meters with a time of 12.5 seconds. The old standard was 12.9 seconds. Gretchen also placed first in her age class in the 200 meters. And the 12 year old girl relay team took a first place finish with a great time of 55.4 seconds.
