On ' Wednesday evening of this week is 'the Spring Flower Show and General Meeting to be held at Brooklin United Church Hall at 8:0 p.m. Entries for the show from 6:30 to 7:45. Many of us will not have too many tylips in our garden that will be worthy of showing. but it has been suggested that if vou have iris in bloom, bring them along and ~ they'll be sorted into classes for Judging: With the warm weather we have had this spring it strely has brought the iris into bloom much earlier than other years. The speaker for Wednesday even- ing'is David Hinton and his subject will be ""*Rhododendrons and Azaleas." The ins show is scheduled for Monday evening. June 8 to be held at Burns Church, Ashburn, so we - should hope that the temperatures remain a little on the cool side to 'prevent a lot of our prize iris to burst into bloom before that date The. speaker for this evening is Marlene Weary and she will speak to us ag-""Preserving the Crop. a subject of great interest to all. The O.H.A. Convention this year 1s being held at Queen's Univ. ersity, Kingston on June 16, 17 and 18. Thete will be three delegates from Brooklin attending, but anyone who "1s interested is w elcome to attend. The weekend was very busy here in our little village with two auction sales and a bake sale. Art and Eva Richardson had their auction on Fri- day evening with the Compton auc- tion on Saturday. I am pleased to hear that the bake sale was a great success. The proceeds from the bake sale will be funnelled into the construction of the H.F. Daw Nature Trail..to be dedicated in memory of the late Fred Daw and to Lois Daw in recognition of their outstanding contributions to community ser- Vices: The 1st Ashburn Beavers, Cubs and especially Scouts and Venturers are currently contributing in this community effort, by blazing the trail and removing trees and undergrowth. They are now in need of SSIS an eg the community at large to fund and build bridges, and to establish drainage and the walkway.
