All the Kindergarten to Grade Six students ing, as they strolled around the school and of Immaculate Conception Catholic School (about church parking lot to celebrate Vanish Your Vehi- 200!) were out in force last Wednesday morn- cle Day. ~ Scugog warms up for ) Challenge Day, May 27 Scugog's boots were made for walking, and there sure was a lot of people hoofing it around the Township last Wednesday, Vanish. Your Vehicle Day. The Roving Eye spotted umpteen people on their feet, leaving their vehicle elsewhere and walking at least a block to their destinations. The whole idea of the day was to park old Betsy and do some walk- ing, all to promote upcoming Challenge Day on May 27 (only seven days away!). And then there were individuals like lawyer Bryan Davies, who did slightly more than his allotted block ~ when he ran his daily 12 miles. "It relieves a lot of stress." he says. Looks like he'll be able to give 15 minutes of exercise to Challenge Day with no problem at all. Of course, not all residents of Scugog were that enthusiastic, or that fit. Many people took the oppor- tunity to park their cars and walk-- to a local restaurant for lunch, but the fact is, they did walk! And then there was Carpenter, a Scugog Island bulldog, who donned a miniature sized Blue Jays uniform (bursting at the seams) and strut- ted up and down Queen Street. . Carpenter, of course, can't be in- cluded. in the race for the Fittest People in Scugog, but his owner,- Marg Sanders, can be nominated, along- with newcomers to the list Nancy Brown, Bryan Davies, Kathy Dudley, John B. Chances are, by the time you read this, Leapfrog Your Way to Fitness (Wednesday May 20) will be over, but hopefully many readers will have caught the action on Queen St, Port Perry, as teams vaulted over each other, all in the spirit of Participaction.- Even if you missed it, however, be sure not to miss the excitement and the fun of Challenge Day, only one short week away. Remember, the honor of Scugog Township is at stake, and we can only beat out Ajax and Newcastle by showing a hundred per cent participation rate. That means everyone in Scugog, from Nestleton to Seagrave, from Saintfield to Utica, from Epsom to Raglan, from Blackstock to Caesarea, from Cadmus to Green- bank, and everywhere in between, must perform 15 minutes of some kind of exercise, any kind of exer- cise, and call it in ( 9761). To make the day more fun, organizers (who have worked so unbelievably hard to make the day a success) have planned a whole slew of special events, most of them taking place in the central location - of Port Perry's lakefront. (see ad in this week's paper). Whether you're a two year old or a 100 year old, do your part to help make Scugog the Fittest Communi- ty in Canada. - It won't cost you anything but your time, and a mere 15 minutes at - that.
