The Scugog Township council has set aside $40,000 for this year and plans to do the project in 2 stages. Parents are very grateful to the council for their decision and can pat themselves on the back for taking the trouble to write all those letters expressing their concern. A large crowd attended the love- ly Mothers Day Service on Sunday, when the celebration of Baptism was held. Bringing their children for Baptism was Mr. and Mrs. Michael Adderley (nee Wilcox) their son, James Thomas, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thomson (nee Midgley), their daughter Traci Leanne. Don't forget regular services at our church next Sunday at 11 o'clock, then on Sunday, June 7 the Sunday School Anniversary. The Evening Unit, U.C.W. will be having a bake sale, Friday, May 15 at 1:30 in front of the church. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hill altended ceremonies at the Toronto Conven- tion Centre on Friday evening for their daughter Earla, who graduated from the Toronto School of Business with honours in Travel and Tourism. Mr. and Mrs. Armour McMillan recently called on Mr. and Mrs. Wallace McMillan of Orillia. . Mr. and Mrs. Don McKean spent Saturday visiting with Helen's mother Mrs. Florence Archer at Port McNicol then on Sunday visited at her daughters in Ajax. The Greenbank Ladies Lob Ball Team started off the season last Wednesday with a big win over Den- nis Anderson of Port Perry. Highlights of the night included a home run hit by Julie Midgley along with strike outs from each of our pit- chers Ruby Dusty, Joanne Trotter and Wilma Midgley. This years sponsor is Williamsons Motors of Uxbridge. We are looking forward to a good year with our coach Brian Lee. School. Mrs. Atkinson and her grade 4/3 class assisted volunteers Sue Simpson and Debbie McTaggart in tackling quite a big landscaping job. Two big gardens were dug in front of the school, loaded up with fresh top soil and new shrubs and bushes Once again last week there was ~ lots of action at Greenbank Public were planted There are more shrubs to go in next week. but already one can see what a dif- ference their efforts will make to the appearance of the school face. Sincere thanks for the time and hard work put in by Sue and Debbie: Mrs. Atkinson and class. Friday saw the start of this springs electives program at the school. This is a program in which volunteers from the community as well as school staff offer their time once a week to teach their particular skill to students. Electives range from such activities as swimming and bowling to woodworking, folk art and cake decorating. This program is a favorite of the children's and can only take place on this scale thanks to the help of these volunteers. This kind of co- operation between school and com- munity sets a wonderful example | for our children and benefits us all. Thanks to everyone involved. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Walker of Hepworth spent the Mothers Day weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. James lanson.
